  • Patent number: 7266320
Abstract: In a duplex printer with automatic duplex printing by recirculating the sheets printed on their first sides through a duplex path for printing their second sides before feeding them to the output path, electronic information corresponding to a pre-set maximum level of acceptable sheet weight for that printer is compared to a remote user job input with electronic information corresponding to the desired sheets to be printed. If exceeded, the printer automatically switches to a different duplex printing mode in which the heavyweight sheets are printed on only one side and fed to the output path, and a GUI at the printer automatically displays instructions to unload these simplex printed sheets and properly reload them in an input in the correct orientation to print their opposite sides with locally stored page images for those opposite sides, and printing is restarted at the printer rather than the remote job input site.

  • Patent number: 7264324
Abstract: Alignment of an ejector module in a printhead is achieved along a lateral direction by arranging first and second partially overlapping pluralities of nozzles, determining an alignment pair between first and second nozzles within their respective pluralities, and assigning the alignment pair as boundaries for print actuation. The first and second ejector modules are disposed in a printhead array along a lateral direction and include first and second nozzles eject fluid on command. The first nozzles are disposed with a first spacing therebetween in the first ejector module. The second nozzles at one end of the second ejector module that overlap the first nozzles are disposed with a second spacing that differs from the first spacing. An alignment pair between first and second nozzles of their respective pluralities is determined to minimize an alignment spacing between each other as compared to remaining nozzles.

  • Patent number: 7265769
Abstract: A method and apparatus adjusting the lateral position of an LED bar may minimize image banding in image-on-image systems having multiple LED bar imagers. A photoreceptor may be transported past a plurality of marking stations. At each marking station an LED bar imager extends in a direction perpendicular to the direction of transport of the medium. A mark may be sensed at each station and the lateral position of the LED bar, perpendicular to the direction of transport of the medium, may be adjusted according to the deviation of the position of the mark from a desired position.

  • Patent number: 7266222
Abstract: Text, images, and/or graphics of electronic documents should be organized and laid out in a two-dimensional format for presentation to the viewer. The best such layout depends upon the content present, the creator's intent, the output device, and the viewer's interests. To analyze the qualitative nature of the layout in quantifiable terms, the electronic document is measure using various quantifiable factors; such as, balance, uniformity, white space management, alignment, consistency, legibility, etc.; that impact a qualitative nature of a document. Such quantifiable factors are then used to quantize the aesthetics, ease of use, eye-catching ability, interest, communicability, comfort, and convenience of the document.

  • Publication number: 20070202473
Abstract: A simulation apparatus simulates a process executed by an image forming apparatus. The simulation apparatus includes a first acquiring unit, an image generating unit and a first output unit. The first acquiring unit acquires an image formation command comprising information of a target image. The image generating unit generates an image, which is expected to be output by the image forming apparatus, based on the acquired image formation command. The first output unit coverts the generated image into data in a predetermined format. The first output unit outputs the converted data.

  • Publication number: 20070199990
Abstract: A printed material includes a first coded pattern of image identification information repeatedly formed on a recording material, and a second coded pattern of a coordinate value on the recording material recorded as a background image. The first coded pattern and the second coded pattern are provided to identify an image formed on the recording material, and the first coded pattern represents a second pattern value, on the basis of a value obtained by adding a third pattern value to a first pattern value, the third pattern value being obtained by encoding the coordinate value, the first pattern value being obtained by encoding the image identification information.

  • Publication number: 20070203905
Abstract: To determine spectra, integrated multiple illuminant measurements from a non-fully illuminant populated color sensor may be converted into a fully populated spectral curve using a reference database. The reference database is partitioned into a plurality of clusters, and an appropriate centroid is determined for each cluster by, for example, vector quantization. Training samples that form the reference database may be assigned to the clusters by comparing the Euclidean distance between the centroids and the sample under consideration, and assigning each sample to the cluster having the centroid with the shortest Euclidean distance. When all training samples have been assigned, the resulting structure is stored as the reference database. When reconstructing the spectra for new measurements from the sensor, the Euclidean distances between actual color samples under measurement and each cluster centroid are measured.
