Abstract: In a product distribution management system in which a product is packaged in an outer case and delivered, a product wireless tag is attached to a product such as a toner cartridge, and a product wireless tag ID is written on the tag at a production factory. Then, at a product warehouse, an outer-case wireless tag is attached to the outer case in which the product is packaged, and an outer-case wireless tag ID is written on this outer-case tag. A correlation computer correlates the product wireless tag ID and the outer-case wireless tag ID with each other. At a customer's premises, the outer-case wireless tag ID can be used, and at a recovery/recycling factory, the product wireless tag ID can be used. Production information, delivery information and recovery information are correlated with the wireless tag ID's and integrally managed at a data center.

  • Patent number: 7269276
Abstract: Text, images, and/or graphics of electronic documents should be organized and laid out in a two-dimensional format for presentation to the viewer. The best such layout depends upon the content present, the creator's intent, the output device, and the viewer's interests. To analyze the qualitative nature of the layout in quantifiable terms, the electronic document is measure using various quantifiable factors; such as, balance, uniformity, white space management, alignment, consistency, legibility, etc.; that impact a qualitative nature of a document. Such quantifiable factors are then used to quantize the aesthetics, ease of use, eye-catching ability, interest, communicability, comfort, and convenience of the document.

  • Patent number: 7269271
Abstract: A first digital image is combined with a transformed first digital image to authenticate and reconstruct the first digital image. When viewed in the standard manner, the combined image appears to be the first digital image. The transformed first digital image cannot be seen. When the bits within each pixel of the combined image are reversed, i.e. the least significant bit (LSB) is exchanged with the most significant bit (MSB), and the resultant image is viewed, then the transformed first digital image is seen. In this way, the transformed first digital image can be hidden inside the noise bits of the first digital image. The method is applied to color pixels by treating each color byte independently. The transformed first digital image can be encrypted before combining with the first digital image. The transformed first digital image can be inversely transformed back to the first digital image for authentication and reconstruction.

  • Patent number: 7269475
Abstract: Embedded in a transport assembly are arrays of microelectromechanical sensors and actuators for detecting and propelling an object. A controller having defined therein local computational agents and a global controller controls the array of sensors and actuators. The global controller provides global operating constraints to the local computational agents. The global operating constraints are developed using an approximate specification of system behavior based on simplified assumptions of an idealized system as well as limited sensor information aggregated from the array of sensors. The local computational agents compute a desired local actuator response using sensor information from a localized grouping of sensor units. To improve the accuracy of the global operating constraints, the local computational agents reduce differences between a global actuator response, computed using the global operating constraints, and the desired local actuator response.
