Abstract: A system for generating a requisition for selectable items includes a client computer system and a server computer system interconnected via a network. The client computer system is configured to allow a plurality of users to access the server computer system, and the server computer system is configured to associate one of a plurality of work sites with each of the users. The server computer system is also configured to identify items which may be requisitioned by a user associated with the associated work site, and items which may not be requisitioned by a user associated with the associated work site, and to receive and process a request for one or more selected items. The server computer system further verifies that each requested item is an item that may be requisitioned by a user associated with the associated work site and generates a requisition for the verified items. In a further aspect, a method of generating a requisition is also provided.

Abstract: A display section of an operation panel is raised relative to a horizontal plane. If the display section consists of a liquid crystal having an angle of visibility of 80 degrees (i.e., with an angle formed between the line normal to the display surface of the display section and the visibility range limit being 40 degrees), the display section is raised at about 50 degrees relative to the horizontal plane, so that visibility can be ensured both at the wheelchair seated position and at the standing position at which the non-handicapped person stands up. Further, by arranging visual recognition keys (a menu key etc.) which require an operator to view the display section during operation thereof outside of a projection region of the display section, the operator's hand on the operation panel never hides the display section during operation.

Abstract: A pneumatic sheet feeder is selectively actuable to acquire a sheet from a stack and transport the sheet towards a take-away nip. The feeder includes a feedhead having an acquisition surface substantially aligned with the take-away nip. A sensing apparatus detects three separate distances between the stack and the acquisition surface at three separate locations over the stack. The stack is then tilted based upon the distances sensed by the sensors. In embodiments, the feedhead has two sensors, and moves so that the third distance can be measured by one of the sensors. In other embodiments, the feedhead includes three sensors for measuring each of the distances.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier which has a predetermined center of rotation and on which a toner image is formed, a developing device which has a developing roll that rotates while carrying a toner on the surface thereof and that conveys the toner to a developing position, an intermediate transfer member which is disposed in an approximately flat shape and circulatingly moves, and a fixing unit which fixes the toner image on the transfer material thereon at a predetermined fixing position. In the image forming apparatus arranged as described above, both the image carrier and the developing roll are disposed in a triangle region formed by the approximately flat-shaped intermediate transfer member, a vertical line in contact with the intermediate transfer member, and a horizontal line in contact with the intermediate transfer member, thereby the size of the image forming apparatus can be more reduced.
Abstract: A system and method are provided for notifying a user of a document left at a xerographic apparatus, such as a printer or copier. The system includes a sensor module for sensing the document and determining whether the user is within a predetermined distance of the xerographic apparatus. The system further includes a notification module for notifying the user of the document left if the copier user is outside the predetermined distance of the copier. The system and method can utilize RFID transponders each worn by a respective copier user or input data for determining the identity of the user. Notification can be accomplished by one of several methods, such as transmitting an electronic message to the user, actuating an alarm located near or at the xerographic apparatus, and preventing further use of the apparatus until the document is retrieved.
Abstract: A foreground erosion method is used to meet thin (but unbroken) text requirements using linear YCC segmentation. The method uses a fixed value subtracted from a gray selector signal, thereby thinning/eroding the foreground. In cases where the pixel would be converted from foreground to background, this is only done if a neighborhood test verifies that the thinning won't result in broken lines. The foreground erosion method attempts to match a couple of templates wherein if a match is found, then the adjustment is performed.

Abstract: An image forming device having an adjusting mode for making settings related to image formation, using a setting unit that sets whether change to the adjusting mode is inhibited, as well as a change unit that inhibits the change to the adjusting mode when it is set to do so by the setting unit.
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for spectrally-encoding plural source images and for providing the spectrally-encoded plural source images in a composite image, for rendering the composite image in a physical form, or for recovering at least one of the encoded source images from the rendered composite image such that the recovered source image is made distinguishable. Source image confusion in a rendered composite image is controlled by application of a illuminant-neutral gray component replacement (GCR) technique to the darkness common to the different colorants under the multiple illuminants.

Abstract: Xerox Docket No. D/A0037Q Document authentication is accomplished by acquiring document image data, generating a set of features of the document, and generating an assist channel that includes information on how to generate the set of features. The set of features and the assist channel are digitally signed and then append to the document. Document verification is accomplished by acquiring document image data and verifying the signature. If the signature is valid, a set of features of the document is generated using information contained in the assist channel appended to the document. The generated set of features is then compared to the set of features appended on the document. If the sets do not match, the document is determined to have been altered sometimes after the assist channel was appended to the document, i.e., the document is not genuine. Otherwise, the document can be considered to be genuine.

Abstract: The present invention provides inspection of a liquid ejection head which is equipped with plural nozzles at which piezoelectric elements are provided and which ejects recording liquid droplets from the individual nozzles in accordance with application of a driving signal voltage to the individual piezoelectric elements. A first voltage is applied to each individual piezoelectric element for measuring a resonance frequency of the individual piezoelectric element, a second voltage which is higher than the first voltage is applied to the individual piezoelectric element for measuring a resonance frequency of the individual piezoelectric element, and on the basis of the resonance frequencies at the times of application of the first voltage and the resonance frequencies at the times of application of the second voltage, piezoelectric elements that are likely to be susceptible to failure over time are detected.
