  • Patent number: 7239815
Abstract: A CPU selects an operation mode of an image forming apparatus by using a result of discriminating whether or not each of toner cartridges, whose information is stored in a main body NVM, is a genuine one. At that time, the CPU selects an operation mode of the image forming apparatus according to the combination of results of discriminating the toner cartridges (Y, M, C, K). For example, in a case where all the toner cartridges are genuine ones, the CPU selects an operation mode S that corresponds to the genuine one. Further, in a case where at least one of the toner cartridges is other than the genuine one, the CPU selects an operation mode N that differs from the operation mode corresponding to the genuine one.

  • Patent number: 7239820
Abstract: In-situ measurements are made by a toner area coverage sensor on test patches from a single control dot screen developed on a cleanable surface and are observed by a photoreceptor. The density of patches for other dot screens is estimated from the measured density of the control dot screen error of each measured patch by using a scaling factor, which is different for each separation and patchy density. This error is then added to the target tone reproduction curve (TRC) for each non-control dot screen to give an estimated density for each of the other dot screens. The TRC are then developed/updated using the estimated patch densities for each of the other dot screens. This substantially reduces the amount of toner and processing resources utilized.

  • Patent number: 7238459
Abstract: A powder is de-aerated in a collector and then transferred to a chamber via a valve. The chamber may then be injected with a low-pressure air stream carrying an additive for mixing with the de-aerated powder. The mixing of the powder with the air and additive stream may occur in the valve and/or chamber. After mixing of the powder with the air and additive stream, the mixed powder and additive may be further mixed in the chamber and/or second valve prior to transferring the mixed powder and additive to a holding container or other processing device.

  • Patent number: 7239979
Abstract: A method for ordered fault clearance visualization in a computer controlled print production device includes receiving data from the print production device operational sensors indicating a possible fault event. Fault analysis is performed to determine whether faults have occurred and to identify the location and type for each fault, based on the data and fault definitions. Identified faults are prioritized, with each fault assigned a unique priority and the order in which the faults are to be cleared is developed. A visualization of the print production device is presented on the graphical user interface, with graphical cues superimposed upon the visualization of the print production device to indicate the fault order, such that a single view presents all identified faults in the system and the fault order in which they should be cleared. The visualization is updated as each said fault is cleared until a no fault state is achieved.

  • Patent number: 7238254
Abstract: A method of welding together the ends of a web segment of a thermally weldable material, such as for a xerographic photoreceptor or intermediate transfer belt, to form an endless loop belt with a welded seam, by compressing the web segment ends in a welding area with a weld-splash confining laser-light transmissive glass plate, and applying sufficient laser-light energy through that glass plate to thermally weld the web ends together into a smoothly welded seam. The side of the belt opposite from the glass plate may be held by a pneumatic holding system. The side of the glass plate pressing against the web ends may have a slightly convex parabolic shape.

  • Patent number: 7240205
Abstract: Systems and methods for verifying a document. A document having an encoded document data portion that includes assist information and at least one digitally-signed appended one-way hash is inputted. The encoded document data file is decoded and a representation is recovered using the assist information. A verification one-way hash is generated from the recovered representation. The verification one-way hash is then compared to the appended one way hash and the authenticity of the document is verified based on the results of the comparison.

  • Publication number: 20070150807
Abstract: Document fragments are managed by the use of fragment objects. Fragment objects contain a reference to a portion of a source document. Referencing documents contain a reference to a fragment object which delivers the content of the fragment of the source document to the referencing document. The source document can be directly updated through updating the fragment of the source document contained in the referencing document via the use of the fragment object. Source document deletion is controlled by storing the references to the source document by fragment objects so that no fragment object has a reference to a nonexistent source document.
