Abstract: A method determines structures and features of an original document to make style decisions. The extensible markup language of the original document is analyzed to produce instance mapping. The document type definitions of the original document are analyzed to produce document type definitions mapping. Lastly, the instance schema of the original document is analyzed to produce schema mapping. A transform is generated from the produced instance mapping, document type definitions mapping, and schema mapping. The transform is applied to the original document to generate an instance in an intermediate format. A stylesheet is selected and applied to the intermediate format to produce a styled document.

Abstract: The present invention provides an image processing device which aims for appropriate settings and simplification of printing functions. In a print server, when a print job is received, an application name used in a client terminal is specified from a drawing command of the print job, and standard settings of printing functions provided for each application are read from database files. Thereafter, the standard settings and settings of printing functions of the print job are compared. When the settings are different, after carrying out a warning processing, setting of printing functions based on the standard settings is carried out, and image processing and printing processing based on the set printing functions are executed. In this way, while simplifying settings of printing functions in the client terminal, image processing and printing processing by appropriate printing functions are possible.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of automatically detecting a page size for a digital scanning operation. The method includes establishing vertical and horizontal limits of an image area containing image content features of a pre-scanned image, detecting vertical page edge information of the image area, and detecting horizontal page edge information of the image area, such that the vertical and horizontal page edge information define the page size for the pre-scanned image.

Abstract: A system and method for dynamic zoom adjustment based, in part, upon: the raster data in the user selected local area is disclosed; and/or the knowledge of a prevailing font size in a user selected region such that the text in that region is enlarged to be just readable. To achieve this, the detail in the local area is examined and a zoom factor is calculated that depends on the image detail and/or the viewing screen resolution. A document server may be employed to develop the information needed to enable this functionality. In one embodiment, the information is developed by RIPping the document, and then storing a spatial map of localized details (e.g., font sizes at several display resolutions) to automatically adjust a zoom level or factor and thereby facilitate navigation and reading.
