Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body that forms an image on a recording material; a drawn-out unit that is provided so as to be drawable from the apparatus body and has a mount region on which the recording material is mounted; and a guide unit that is provided on the drawn-out unit and guides the recording material to a position where the recording material is to be mounted on the mount region. The guide unit has a guide surface that guides an end of the recording material, a hook part that is hooked onto the drawn-out unit and determines a position relative to the drawn-out unit, and a release part that releases the hook part from the drawn-out unit by being operated by a user from a guide surface side.
Abstract: An information processing system includes an obtaining unit that obtains settings of a scheduled time and a scheduled place at which a first user is to use the self-propelled mobile apparatus, the scheduled time and the schedule place being set by the first user, a reception unit that receives at least one instruction of a movement for the self-propelled mobile apparatus, the at least one instruction being given by a second user, and a control unit that, if execution of the instructed movement would prevent the scheduled use of the self-propelled mobile apparatus from taking place at the scheduled place from the scheduled time, causes the self-propelled mobile apparatus not to execute the instructed movement.
Abstract: A work request support system includes a receiver that receives, from a requester who requests a person to do work, a request of work with respect to a first person who has previously engaged in a transaction with the requester, an allower that allows the first person to request a second person different from the first person to do work, and storage that stores the second person and the requester in association with each other after the allower allows the request from the first person.
Abstract: A semiconductor optical amplifier includes a conductive region that is provided on a substrate and allows light transmission, and a nonconductive region that is provided around the conductive region and prohibits light transmission. The conductive region includes a first region including a light-coupling portion to which light from an external light-source unit is coupled, and a second region having a narrower width than the first region and connected to the first region through a connecting portion, the second region including a light-amplifying portion amplifying the light from the light-coupling portion by propagating the light in a predetermined propagating direction along a surface of the substrate, the light-amplifying portion outputting the amplified light in a direction intersecting the surface of the substrate.

The voxel-data acquiring unit acquires voxel data expressing a three-dimensional object to be fabricated and containing, for each voxel constituting the three-dimensional object, a value of the voxel and link information indicating a link direction of the voxel. The encoding unit encodes the voxel data by setting a code based on a predicting unit that has made a correct prediction of a value of a target voxel among multiple predicting units that predict the value of the target voxel based on a value of at least one reference voxel surrounding the target voxel, the target voxel being encoded based on the link information of the target voxel.
Abstract: A print job received by a printing system has subsets of items. Multiple items are printed on each sheet. Finishing devices of the printing system are limited to processing a single subset of the items at a time, causing printing devices to wait skipped-pitch delays. An unadjusted number of machine-hours to complete the print job is determined based on continuous printing without interruption. A skipped-pitch delay is assigned to each of the subsets of items based on the number of sheets used to print each of the subsets of items. A revised number of machine-hours to complete the print job is calculated by adding the total skipped-pitch delay for the print job to the unadjusted number of machine-hours. The number of the printing devices and the finishing devices to use to complete the print job is determined based on the revised number of machine-hours.

Abstract: A system for manufacturing a three-dimensional object facilitates the removal of support material from the object. The system includes a controller configured to move a platen to position the object at a position opposite a microwave radiator and then operate the microwave radiator to change the phase of the support material from solid to liquid. The controller either monitors the expiration of a predetermined time period or a temperature of the object to determine when the microwave radiator operation is terminated. The microwave radiation does not damage the object because the support material has a dielectric loss factor that is greater than the dielectric loss factor of the object.
