Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image holding member, a charging unit that charges the surface of the image holding member, an electrostatic latent image forming unit that forms an electrostatic latent image on the charged surface of the image holding member, a developing unit that develops the electrostatic latent image to form a toner image, a transferring unit that transfers the toner image to a first side of a recording medium, a fixing unit that allows the recording medium having the transferred toner image to pass through a nipping region to fix the toner image, a first charging unit that faces the first side of the recording medium and that charges particles, and a second charging unit that charges a second side of the recording medium to the opposite polarity to the charged particles after the recording medium passes through the nipping region.
Abstract: An information processing apparatus connected to multiple devices and a server via a network includes an acquiring unit, a display controller, and a commanding unit. The acquiring unit acquires information about application software from the server. The display controller performs control so as to display an application software display section and a device display section on a single screen. The application software display section displays the information about the application software acquired from the acquiring unit. The device display section displays information obtained by grouping the devices in accordance with attributes of the devices. The commanding unit commands at least one of the grouped and displayed devices to install the application software acquired by the acquiring unit in accordance with an operation performed by a user via the screen displayed by the display controller.

Abstract: A titanium oxide aerogel particle has absorption at wavelengths of 450 nm and 750 nm in a visible absorption spectrum, a surface to which a metal compound containing a metal atom and a hydrocarbon group is bonded via an oxygen atom, a BET specific surface area in a range of 120 m2/g to 1,000 m2/g, and a value A is in the range of 0.03 to 0.3. The value A is calculated by formula: A={(peak intensity of C—O bond+peak intensity of C?O bond)/(peak intensity of C—C bond+peak intensity of C?C bond)}. In the formula, the peak intensity is a value determined from a C 1s XPS spectrum.
Abstract: A jumper is configured to replace a printhead connected to an ink delivery system to enable a controller operating the ink delivery system to prime the ink supply conduit and the ink waste conduit of the ink delivery system. The jumper includes a pressure impedance element that simulates a pressure drop across the printhead when the printhead is connected to the ink delivery system. The jumper enables the ink supply conduit and the waste ink conduit to be primed with reduced risk of air being urged into the inkjets of the printhead once the printhead is reconnected to the ink delivery system.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a photoreceptor, a charging unit, an exposure unit, a developing unit, a transfer unit, a detector, and a controller. The charging unit charges the photoreceptor. The exposure unit exposes the photoreceptor charged by the charging unit to light and forms an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor. Abstract: An image processing system includes first and second devices. The first device converts print data described in a page description language into intermediate data. The second device converts the intermediate data into raster data and supplies the raster data to a printer. The first device includes a shape modifier, a first generator, and an output section. The shape modifier divides plural graphic elements indicated by the intermediate data within a unit of output into groups, and modifies, among the graphic elements in each of the groups, a shape of first-type graphic elements having a specific component into a shape without having an overlapping portion between the first-type graphic elements. A color of the specific component is superimposed on a color of an underlying graphic element. The first generator generates an item of mask information for identifying a logical OR shape of the first-type graphic elements included in each of the groups.
Abstract: An original document is formed using a first print medium by printing a first and second monochrome patterns with a single colorant to form printed first and second regions including first and second shapes, respectively, which are devoid of the colorant. The second shapes have a smaller size and a higher frequency than the first shapes. The first and/or second regions encode information. The first and second patterns and a fluorescence of the first print medium are selected such that the first and second regions of the original document are indistinguishable to the naked eye, under both normal and ultraviolet illumination but are distinguishable, only under the ultraviolet illumination, in a copy formed by scanning the original document and printing the scanned document on a second print medium with a plurality of colorants, to reveal the encoded information.

Abstract: A dampening fluid deposition system includes a vapor generator adjacent the air supply channel and in fluid communication with a dampening fluid supply to produce dampening fluid vapor. The vapor generator includes a vapor channel having an interior in communication with air confined within the air supply channel. The vapor generator may include a liquid reservoir receiving dampening fluid from the dampening fluid supply and a heater that heats the received dampening fluid into dampening fluid vapor. The liquid reservoir may include a wick that stores dampening fluid and releases dampening fluid vapor into the vapor channel and a heat conductive tub that holds the wick and dampening fluid. The passive dampening fluid deposition system mixes the dampening fluid vapor with the confined air to form an air/vapor mix that is condensed as a layer of dampening fluid onto the reimageable surface of an imaging member.
