Abstract: A touch sensitive user interface of the type having a display screen for displaying images representative of menus and selectable list objects, for example; control logic responsive to the touch sensitive user interface for determining the contact position of a first probe and a second probe, such as two separate fingers, thereon, displaying menus including list objects representing primary and secondary features or functions respectively, so that a user may touch a selection on the primary menu with the first probe and subsequently touch an area on the display screen where a contextually related secondary menu is displayed for selection of contextually related features or functions.

Abstract: A second opening and closing door has a main body of the second opening and closing door, a sound absorbing member and a sound absorbing member cover. The sound absorbing member covers almost the entire surface of the main body of the second opening and closing door facing a guide member. The sound absorbing member cover is dyed black and made of an antistatic-treated cloth material which has air permeability, and is designed to cover almost the entire surface of the sound absorbing member facing the guide member. Further, the sound absorbing member cover is dyed with a dye which does not contain carbon, so that carbon-containing fibrous materials can be prevented from floating in an image forming apparatus while the light-shielding effect can be maintained.
Abstract: A media handling system comprises a configuration of N linked modules. Each module has an order based on the module's linkage in the configuration. Thus, a first module of order 1 links to a second module of order 2, the second module links to a third module of order 3, etc., and an (N?1)th module of order (N?1) links to an Nth module of order N. A feeder module feeds a sheet of media to downstream modules. Each downstream module sends a reporting message to an included controller. The reporting message includes the time the module processed the sheet and the module's reported type. For each reporting module, the controller determines the module's order and type based on the reported time and reported type in the module's reporting message. The controller validates the configuration by determining when the order and the type for the reporting modules match a predetermined pattern.
Abstract: A structured document inputted from a document input unit is decomposed into partial structures to be an editing unit in a document processing unit, and global structural information showing a relation between the partial structures is registered into a relational database. The decomposed partial structure is inputted to an editing unit processing unit, and information of elements as element information and a relation between elements in the partial structure as structural information are registered into the relational database. An ancestor-descendant relation between two elements can be determined easily and speedily by determining an ancestor-descendant relation between the partial structures of the global structural information and an ancestor-descendant relation of the structural information of the ancestor partial structure.

Abstract: An electrostatic image developing toner comprising a non-crystalline polyester resin, wherein the non-crystalline polyester resin is obtained by copolymerizing monomers in the presence of a titanium catalyst; the monomers comprise a polyhydric alcohol component and a monomer containing a sulfonic acid group, the polyhydric alcohol component comprises a propylene oxide adduct of bisphenol A, a ratio of an amount of the monomer containing a sulfonic acid group to the total amount of the non-crystalline polyester resin is 0.1 mol % to 20 mol %, and a content of titanium is 1 ppm to 1000 ppm by weight based on the amount of the resin. The invention also provides a method for producing the same, an electrostatic image developer and image forming method using the toner.

Abstract: A printing system that receives an imaging media cartridge includes a rail and a dock to install the imaging media cartridge. The imaging media cartridge includes a housing that has pivots along an alignment axis substantially parallel to the rail. The imaging media cartridge further includes a roller that slides along the rail, the roller being disposed on the housing. The imaging media cartridge also includes a bracket disposed on the housing. To insert the bracket into the dock, the housing rotates on the pivots. To further adjust the position of the imaging media cartridge in the xerographic system, the housing rotates along at least one axis substantially orthogonal to the alignment axis. The rail includes a support beam and a flange. The roller includes at least a pair of wheel housings, each wheel housing having a pair of tandem wheels that glide along the rail. The tandem wheels face each other and glide along the flange and between the support beam.

Abstract: An image processing apparatus for simulating a print output of a printing machine. The image processing apparatus firstly acquires color value information for converting color value information of image data so that a color reproduced on one surface of a recording medium by the printing machine based on the color value information is reproduced as an output. The image processing apparatus secondly acquires show-through color profile information for converting the color value information so that the color reproduced on the one surface by the printing machine as seen from the other surface is reproduced. The image processing apparatus then generates image data formed by composing first image data obtained by converting the color value information based on the color profile information, with second image data obtained by converting the color value information based on the show-through color profile information and by inverting the converted color value information horizontally or vertically.
