Abstract: One of the sections of nozzles of a fluid ejection head ejects a first one of different fluids and has a width in the process direction that is N times wider than the width in the process direction of other sections of the fluid ejection head. Data corresponding to the first one of the different fluids is collected in a first data buffer until the first data buffer is full. The fluid ejection head is controlled to eject all of the different fluids only when the first data buffer is full.
Abstract: An observed signal that is corrupted with impulse noise is recorded in a signal processing system of an image processing system or a digital subscriber line (xDSL). The observed signal that is recorded by the signal processing system includes a noise component and data component. The signal processing system estimates the parameters of an alpha-stable distribution using a modified iteratively reweighted least squares (IRLS) technique. The estimated parameters define a probability density function that is used to model the noise component of the observed signal. Once the parameters of the alpha-stable distribution are estimated, the signal processing system uses them to estimate model coefficients of a non-linear prediction filter such as a Volterra filter. Using the model coefficients, the non-linear prediction filter estimates the data component of the observed signal.

Abstract: In a gradation display method, an image is divided into pixels having fine areas, this pixel is furthermore divided into very fine pixels (Si) having very fine areas, and then gradation is displayed based upon a ratio of a colored very fine pixel (Si) with respect to all of very fine pixels (Si) within a pixel. Also, the above-described colored very fine pixel (Si) is formed by both a first growth core which is formed by increasing the number of colored very fine pixels of a single cluster, and a second growth core which is formed by increasing the number of colored very fine pixels of another single cluster.
Abstract: A method factors a functional (i.e., ambiguous) finite state transducer (FST) into a bimachine with a reduced intermediate alphabet. Initially, the method determines an emission matrix corresponding to a factorization of the functional FST. Subsequently, the emission matrix is split into a plurality of emission sub-matrices equal in number to the number of input symbols to reduce the intermediate alphabet. Equal rows of each emission sub-matrix are assigned an identical index value in its corresponding factorization matrix before creating the bimachine.
Abstract: A method for the conversion and display of tree-structured information to a “treetable”, a table-like display structure, in which each path from a root to a leaf node is represented by a single column, and cells representing the immediate successors of a node are placed immediately under that node. Variation in the amount of space given to cells within particular columns is used to allow more detail to be given for selected paths and subtrees. Extraction of subparts of a treetable into another such structure is used for deeper exploration of trees. The treetable structure is also suitable for use as a selector and guide to the reading, in auxiliary displays, of the concatenated node content associated with either (a) individual columns (representing full paths), or (b) all successors to a given node.
Abstract: Method and system to enable a user to view large collections of hierarchically linked information on a computer based display. A tree structure visualization is created which presents a representation of the complete collection of information on the display. The visualization fits completely within a fixed area of the computer based display, negating the need to scroll information into the display area. The visualization is based on identified focus nodes and through calculation of a Degree of Interest (DOI) for each of the nodes based in the structure. Layout and presentation of the visualization structure is based on the DOI values in combination with considerations of available display space. A user may dynamically manipulate views of the structure by selecting one or more focus nodes, thus causing a recalculation of the degree of interest.
Abstract: The system and method reduces aliasing which is formed by the patterns that are introduced by the halftone screens used in the printer. The system and method provides halftone-specific anti-alias filters for obtaining optimal effective resolution in printed images. A method of reducing aliasing in a digital image includes providing a digital image; selecting a halftone screen for halftoning the digital image, wherein the halftone screen has a directional component associated with it; filtering the digital image with an antialiasing filter, the antialiasing filter having been designed to have a directional frequency response that is optimized for the directional component of the selected halftone screen; and halftoning the filtered digital image.
Abstract: An ink jet recording head is capable of: preventing any of stagnation in ink flow, formation of vapor bubbles, cavitation, or like problems from occurring in the ink flow; realizing an excellent ink ejection operation, and thereby realizing a high quality gradation expression in recording; and, lessening a degree of a required accuracy both in dimension and in alignment of its components being stacked together. In a method for manufacturing the ink jet recording head provided with a pressure generating chamber, this chamber is constructed of a through-hole of a chamber plate and a pair of plates, between which plates the chamber plate is sandwiched.
Abstract: An image processing system of the present invention comprises an image inputting portion 1 for inputting image data, a ground-level detecting portion 3 for detecting a ground level of the input image data, a pasted-manuscript deciding portion 4 for deciding whether or not the image data is a pasted manuscript, based on a user's indication or the ground level detected by the ground-level detecting portion 3, a ground-level adjusting portion 5 for adjusting the ground level in response to a distribution of the ground level detected by the ground-level detecting portion 3 if the image data is decided as the pasted manuscript, and a ground removal processing portion 6 for removing a ground of the image data at the ground level adjusted by the ground-level adjusting portion 5.
Abstract: A federated search engine groups search results from information sources using attributes of the search results. In grouping the search results, a first set and a second set of attributes are extracted from content in each set of search results received using information source wrappers. The first set of attributes defines a main clustering strategy, and the second set of attributes defines a sub-clustering strategy. A main grouping of the sets of search results received from the information sources is generated using the first set of attributes. The main grouping of search results includes a plurality of labeled groups with a plurality of search results in each group. A sub-grouping of search results is generated for each labeled group of search results in the main grouping of search results using the second set of attributes.

Abstract: Provided is an image forming apparatus that not only prevents leakage of a developer from a developing apparatus due to vibrations and the like at the time of transportation but also enables attachment of a developer leakage preventing member to a miniaturized image forming apparatus and facilitates attachment and detachment of the developer leakage preventing member at the time of use of the image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus that is shipped with a developing member being fitted to an apparatus main body includes a developer leakage preventing member that prevents leakage of a developer from the developing member, in which the developer leakage preventing member is fitted at an attachment position opposing the developing member in place of a component that is detachably attachable to the apparatus main body at the attachment position.
