  • Patent number: 6944341
Abstract: An anti-aliased, or gray-edged, image is characterized by comparing the image to a number of loose-templates having a plurality of elements and at least one element having a range greater than zero. As families of loose-templates are compared to the anti-aliased input image, one or more sets of patterns, or features, are recognized and extracted to produce various screens of features that generally describe the anti-aliased input image. An arbitration technique is then performed on the sets of features to produce feature vectors which, in turn, can be used to control line-widths within the anti-aliased input image.

  • Patent number: 6944355
Abstract: The invention describes a method for preventing the loss of portions of a copied image when output media having edge disturbances, or virtual edge disturbances, are used. Such media can include hole-punched paper, transparencies with non-imaging stripes, or paper that will be hole punched at a later time. Image loss may be minimized or prevented by reducing or offsetting the image. When output media with an edge disturbance is detected, an image forming apparatus can adjust the images to compensate for the disturbances.

  • Patent number: 6941177
Abstract: A method for developing and using real time applications for a dynamic system having a sensing subsystem, actuation subsystem, a control subsystem, and an application subsystem utilizes stochastic compute time algorithms. After optimization functions, desired state and constraints are received and detector data has been provided from a sensor subsystem, a statistical optimization error description is generated. From this statistical optimization error description a strategy is developed, including the optimization errors, within the control subsystem. An execution module within the control subsystem then sends an execution strategy to various actuators within the actuation subsystem.
