Patent number: 6851778Abstract: A nozzle for ejecting a droplet has a straight portion having a substantially straight shape. A driving waveform to be applied to a piezoelectric actuator includes a first voltage change process for expanding volume of a pressure generating chamber to retract a meniscus of the nozzle portion toward the pressure generating chamber and a second voltage change process for compressing the volume of the pressure generating chamber to eject a droplet. Voltage change quantity and voltage change time of the first voltage change process are set so that meniscus retraction quantity D when the second voltage change process is applied satisfies 0.8·ln?D?1.5·ln (ln designates length of the straight portion of the nozzle). Consequently, when the second voltage change process is applied, strong liquid surface interference can be produced in the nozzle central portion. Therefore, a droplet having an extremely small droplet volume can be ejected.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 2002Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Assignee: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masakazu Okuda

Patent number: 6853832Abstract: The present invention provides an image forming apparatus having dimensions comparable to or smaller than those of conventional color image forming apparatus and adapted to produce a hard copy of photographic image quality. The image forming apparatus of the present invention has a first fixing device that fixes a toner image transferred to a recording medium, a second fixing device that re-fixes the toner image fixed on the recording medium by the first fixing device, and a switch section that selects the first route or the second route for the recording medium to be discharged. The first route passes through the first fixing device and allows the recording medium to be discharged immediately thereafter without passing through the second fixing device. The second route passes through the first fixing device and subsequently the second fixing device, and then allows the recording medium to be discharged.Type: GrantFiled: March 7, 2003Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Assignee: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.Inventors: Motoi Noya, Yutaka Nogami, Yoshio Kanesawa

Patent number: 6851879Abstract: In an image-recording device of the present invention, driving force of a motor for driving is transmitted to two idle gears, which are the same shape and are disposed at positions of linear symmetry with respect to a center line C. Driving force is transmitted by way of the idle gears to power-input gears which are fixed coaxially with a supply gear and an ejection gear, respectively. That is, a supply side driving force transmission system, ranging from the motor to the supply gear, and a discharge side driving force transmission system, ranging from the motor to the ejection gear, have the same structure. Therefore, a recording sheet will be stably conveyed at the same conveyance speed throughout an image recording region, and high quality image recording can be carried out reliably. Thus, conveyance amounts can be kept consistent in the image recording region, even without using special apparatus, and high quality images can be recorded at low cost.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2002Date of Patent: February 8, 2005Assignee: Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd.Inventor: Noboru Endo
