Abstract: An imageable belt includes a seam that is finished using an abrasive finishing machine. The seam comprises a seam width with adhesive material disposed thereon. The finishing process includes an abrasive finishing media with a finishing surface and a backer bar. The backer bar comprises a backer bar radius. The backer bar surface is positioned against the belt inner surface so that the belt outer surface contacts the finishing surface to define a finishing contact arc with respect to the backer bar radius. A tension, feed rate and pressure are applied to the finishing media. Using the finishing machine, the seam is then finished to remove the adhesive material. The finishing process results in a seam that is imageable. In one embodiment, the backer bar radius is adjusted so that the finishing contact arc covers the seam width.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus or method which uses plural image forming units to form visible images of different colors by making developers of different colors adhere to image holders such as photosensitive drums electrostatically. In this apparatus or method, intermediate transfer electrode members such as intermediate transfer rollers are opposite to the image holders of the image forming units with a belt transfer member between them and voltage is applied to transfer images electrostatically from the image forming units to the belt transfer member in sequence in a way that the transferred images on the belt overlap each other. Each of the intermediate transfer electrode members is located on the belt surface away from a point (transfer nip) at which a corresponding image holder contacts the belt.
Abstract: An image-forming apparatus is provided which includes: an image forming part that forms an unfixed toner image on a recording sheet; a first fixing part that performs primary fixation to the recording sheet that bears the unfixed toner image; and a second fixing part that performs secondary fixation to the recording sheet fixed by the first fixing part. In the image-forming apparatus, the second fixing part exists above the image forming part.
Abstract: A transfer device for transferring an object to be transferred in a predetermined direction has a drive mechanism unit, a transfer direction displacement information acquiring unit, a skew direction displacement information acquiring unit, and a transfer processing unit. The drive mechanism unit also has roll parts which cause the object to be transferred to move in the direction with a rotational force. The transfer direction displacement information acquiring unit and the skew direction displacement information acquiring unit radiate a predetermined measuring wave toward the object, so that the units acquire the displacement information in each of the directions. Based on the displacement information, the transfer processing unit performs a predetermined processing.

Abstract: A digitally readable identifier located proximate to a physical object communicates a personality identifier. The personality identifier is automatically or manually associated with document content. The personality identifier is automatically associated with document content using context information that identifies the place of a physical object and/or the time the personality identifier is communicated. Once the personality identifier is associated with document content, a meta-document server enriches the document content in accordance with a predefined thematic set of document services identified by the personality identifier.
Abstract: A release layer is formed on a substrate, and plural thin-film patterns are formed on the release layer. The release layer is etched back at a prescribed depth at least in regions close to the circumferences of the thin-film patterns. The thin-film patterns are transferred sequentially to a counter substrate to be laminated on the counter substrate and to thereby form a micro structure. This manufacturing method is employed in a case that the combination of thin-film patterns and are lease layer is such that when a prescribed pressure is applied to each of the thin-film patterns on the release layer in the transferring, the height of a raised portion of the release layer that would be appeared in a region close to the circumference of the thin-film pattern if the release layer were not be etched back is greater than or equal to the thickness of the thin-film pattern.
