  • Publication number: 20030089952
Abstract: The present disclosure relates that by modifying the masking layer normally utilized for complimentary type tub development to provide one or more additional openings arranged in close proximity to the drain area of a selected power device of the non-complimentary type, that the dopant profile may be modified to provide a greater voltage breakdown exclusively for that selected power device without affecting similar type logic circuit non-complimentary devices as found within the same integrated circuit chip. Furthermore, this is accomplished without the need for providing an additional mask or additional process steps to supplement and thereby disturb a given predefined process set for the fabrication of semiconductor devices.

  • Patent number: 6560861
Abstract: Efficient methods are disclosed for fabricating spring structures in which a passive, conductive coating is deposited onto the spring structure after release. A release layer is deposited on a substrate and then a spring metal layer is formed thereon. A first mask is then used to etch the spring metal layer to form a spring metal finger. A second (release) mask is then deposited that defines a release window used to remove a portion of the release layer and release a free end of the spring metal finger. The second mask is also used as a mask during the subsequent directional deposition of a conductive coating material on the cantilevered tip of the finger. The second mask is then stripped, and the residual coating deposited thereon is lifted off. The resulting spring structure includes conductive coating on the upper surface and front edge of the finger tip.

  • Patent number: 6562077
Abstract: A programming interface of document search system enables a user to dynamically specifying features of documents recorded in a corpus of documents. The programming interface provides category and format flexibility for defining different genre of documents. The document search system initially segments document images into one or more layout objects. Each layout object identifies a structural element in a document such as text blocks, graphics, or halftones. Subsequently, the document search system computes a set of attributes for each of the identified layout objects. The set of attributes are used to describe the layout structure of a page image of a document in terms of the spatial relations that layout objects have to frames of reference that are defined by other layout objects. Using the set of attributes a user defines features of a document with the programming interface.

  • Patent number: 6563829
Abstract: A method in accordance with the invention allocates bandwidth, fairly and dynamically, in a shared-media packet switched network to accommodate both elastic and inelastic applications. The method, executed by or in a head-end controller, allocates bandwidth transmission slots, converting requests for bandwidth into virtual scheduling times for granting access to the shared media. The method can use a weighted fair queuing algorithm or a virtual clock algorithm to generate a sequence of upstream slot/transmission assignment grants. The method supports multiple quality of service (QoS) classes via mechanisms which give highest priority to the service class with the most stringent QoS requirements.

  • Patent number: 6562648
Abstract: A method for placing nitride laser diode arrays on a thermally and electrically conducting substrate is described. The method uses an excimer laser to detach the nitride laser diode from the sapphire growth substrate after an intermediate substrate has been attached to the side opposite the sapphire substrate. A secondary layer is subsequently deposited to act as a transfer support structure and bonding interface. The membrane is released from the intermediate substrate and a thermally conducting substrate is subsequently bonded to the side where the sapphire substrate was removed. Similarly, the secondary layer may be used as the new host substrate given an appropriate thickness is deposited prior to removal of the intermediate substrate.

  • Patent number: 6563277
Abstract: A belt-drive-control circuit comprises a controller for controlling by using servo constants and servo parameters variable in accordance with the variation in load applied to a belt mounted on rollers. The belt-drive-control circuit comprises a LUT (lookup table) which is a memory. The LUT stores the servo constants and servo parameters optimized by experiments and evaluations in accordance with the load applied to the belt which varies between print sequences. A servo controller which is a major component of the belt-drive-control circuit receives a command from a CPU to rotate a belt-driving motor (a DC motor) together with the data on the load applied to the belt. The servo controller reads from the LUT the servo constant and servo parameter corresponding to the received data on the load, computes the computation expression by using the read servo constant and servo parameter, and outputs computed rotational-speed data to a motor-driving-signal converting circuit.
