  • Patent number: 6557607
Abstract: A substrate on which a plurality of thin films having a plurality of cross-sections corresponding to the cross-section of a micro-structure are formed is placed on a substrate holder. The substrate holder is elevated to bond a thin film formed on the substrate to the surface of a stage, and by lowering the substrate holder, the thin film is separated from the substrate and transferred to the stage side. The transfer process is repeated to laminate a plurality of thin films on the stage and to form the micro-structure. Accordingly, there are provided a micro-structure having high dimensional precision, especially high resolution in the lamination direction, which can be manufactured from a metal or an insulator such as ceramics and can be manufactured in the combined form of structural elements together, and a manufacturing method and an apparatus thereof.

  • Patent number: 6560707
Abstract: In a network, a media coordination system provides secure multimedia communication channels in a collaborative network environment. The media coordination system provides automatic encryption, dynamic interconnection of streams of data, and user interface elements that provide users with control over the ultimate destination of their audio and video data. The infrastructure of the system includes a plurality of client workstations that are connected to a central server using point-to-point network connections. The central server maintains a persistent virtual world of network places with objects located therein. Streams of audio and video data are coordinated between client workstations operating in the persistent virtual world by a key manager object using channels, transmitters, and receivers. The client workstations multicast their audio and video data over the network to defined recipients after receiving a multicast address and an encryption key for a specific multicast channel.

  • Patent number: 6560281
Abstract: A method and apparatus analyzes and annotates a technical talk typically illustrated with overhead slides, wherein the slides are recorded in a video sequence. The video sequence is condensed and digested into key video frames adaptable for annotation to time and audio sequence. The system comprises a recorder for recording a technical talk as a sequential set of video image frames. A stabilizing processor segregates the video image frames into a plurality of associated subsets each corresponding to a distinct slide displayed at the talk and for median filtering of the subsets for generating a key frame representative of each of the subsets. A comparator compares the key frame with the associated subsets to identify differences between the key frame and the associates subset which comprise nuisances and affordances. A gesture recognizer locates, tracks and recognizes gestures occurring in the subset as gesture affordances and identifies a gesture video frame representative of the gesture affordance.

  • Patent number: 6560436
Abstract: Method and apparatus for improved transfer of charged developing material to a substrate in an electrophotographic printing apparatus by applying an oscillatory bias voltage to the charged developing material. The printing apparatus includes a toner transfer system having an intermediate transfer belt and a transfer station having a transfer charging device. The intermediate transfer member is provided with a biasing voltage, generating oscillatory electric fields in the transfer nip. As a result, the portion of the developed image present in the transfer nip is subjected to repeated transfer and back-transfer forces, resulting in fluidization, whereby the developed image is more efficiently transferred.

  • Patent number: 6559961
Abstract: In electronic collated printing of an electronic document of plural electronic pages with a printer printing normal sheets with a normal jam rate but printing abnormal printing sheets with a substantially higher jam rate, where associated with the electronic pages is printing sheet selection information, there is provided here electronic separation of the electronic pages of the document which specify the abnormal printing sheets. The system then prints those separated pages onto their abnormal printing sheets prior to printing any of the other electronic pages, temporarily holds them in an interposer, then prints the other pages of the document onto normal sheets, and provides collated merging in the interposer to provide collated output of the entire electronic document.
