  • Publication number: 20030002739
Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus for improving the appearance of electronic images, and more specifically, to the efficient use of template rotation within a template matching process to enhance such images. The invention reduces the number of entries that are stored in a look up table by eliminating identical patterns that differ only by the angle at which they are output. The appropriate templates are then rotated it by the required angle for output subsequent to their retrieval from the lookup table.

  • Publication number: 20030001222
Abstract: The signal-to-noise ratio of amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) image sensor arrays is limited by electronic noise, which is largely due to data line capacitance. To reduce data line capacitance, an air-gap (i.e., vacuum or gas-filled space) is produced at crossover points separating the data lines and gate lines. This air-gap crossover structure is formed by depositing a release material on the gate lines, forming the data lines on the release material, and then removing (etching) the release material such that the data lines form an arch extending over the gate lines. A dielectric material is then applied to strengthen the data line, and the sensor pixels are then formed.

  • Publication number: 20030001326
Abstract: A set fastening, ejecting, and stacking system for stacking sets of printed sheets with staples or other set fasteners that are being ejected by a set ejector with a horizontal movement component to slide the stapled set out over the stack. An automatic dynamic ramp system is provided by a foldable member which is folded in a vertical direction by the horizontal movement of the set ejector to temporarily lift up the stapled area of the set out of contact with the stack while that set is being ejected to prevent snagging.

  • Publication number: 20030005332
Abstract: When a security server detects an abnormality in the building by a sensor, the security server sends an abnormality notification mail that has embedded a link to image information shot by a supervision camera upon detection of an abnormality and a mail address of the security server to a portable telephone terminal and in case neither access from the portable telephone terminal to the image information nor a response mail is confirmed, determines that the abnormality mail is not confirmed by the user and notifies occurrence of the abnormality to a security center.

  • Publication number: 20030002885
Abstract: An improved process for injection molding of components having zero draft sides comprising: making a mold having a zero draft cavity and an end-cap to seal the mold; injecting suitable resin material into the mold; foaming the resin material; separating the end-cap section from the cavity section of the mold; and removing the part from the mold. In particular, the zero draft process is intended for manufacture of an improved zero draft cylindrical noise attenuator for electrostatographic printers, said attenuator having a cylindrical sidewall thicker than 4 mm throughout at least most of its circumference; and a gap along the length of its long dimension.

  • Publication number: 20030001922
Abstract: An ink set is used in a bidirectional print, and each of first and second absorption quantity differences is equal to or less than 10 ml/m2 in a contact time of 10 msec. in a dynamic scanning absorption meter. The first absorption quantity difference indicates difference between a absorption quantity when a first ink of the ink set is applied on a paper sheet on which a second ink of the ink set is applied and which is used for a print operation, and a absorption quantity when the first ink is applied on the paper sheet on which no ink is applied. The second absorption quantity difference indicates difference between an absorption quantity when the second ink is applied on the paper sheet on which the first ink is applied, and an absorption quantity when the second ink is applied on the paper sheet on which no ink is applied.

  • Publication number: 20030004626
Abstract: A document device, including an input scanner and printer, is installed in an automobile. The document device can transmit and receive image data wirelessly, and further interacts with a Global Positioning System (GPS) device within the automobile to determine the location of the automobile. Aspects of documents based on received image data, and the destinations of transmitted image data, can be made dependent on the location of the automobile at any time. Received image data is retained in memory and printed out when the car is in a predetermined condition, such as being turned on.

  • Publication number: 20030002087
Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for the processing of an image, such as a document. The invention determines the location of differing content types within the document allowing specialized processing of various content types. The invention performs the identification of pixels having similar content characteristics into windows during the first scanning pass of the document by the use of an identifier equivalence table to update selected memory locations to a base identifier during processing. A second pass processing is available to enhance or alter the image by the use of the information gathered during first pass processing. The present invention benefits from a very low memory requirement while being able to determine windows extending the length or width of the image.

  • Publication number: 20030004705
Abstract: A method factors an ambiguous finite state transducer (FST) into two finite state transducers. The first FST is functional (i.e., unambiguous). The second FST retains the ambiguity of the original FST but is fail-safe (i.e., no failing paths) when applied to the output of the first FST. That is, the application of the second FST to an input string never leads to a state that does not provide a transition for the next symbol in the input. Subsequently, the first FST can be factorized into a left-sequential FST and a right-sequential FST that jointly represent a bi-machine.

  • Publication number: 20030001927
Abstract: Heating elements are driven to continuously perform a dummy jet when the number of accumulated printed sheets reaches a predetermined number that causes the image quality deficiency. The surface temperature of a recording head is increased to T1 ° C. to boil ink in the individual channel. A bubble attached to the common liquid chamber side edge of the individual channel is spaced from the wall surface to be expanded to be integrated with other bubbles, and then, is discharged from the common liquid chamber to an ink supply chamber by its floating force. The bubble can be removed reliably.

  • Publication number: 20030002447
Abstract: Apparatus and methods that approximately solve an actuation allocation problem by breaking the solution into modules, which may or may not be overlapping. The solution to the actuation allocation problem is expressed in terms of solutions for each of the modules. The solutions for the modules serve as constraints for a solution of the optimization problem on each module. The optimization problem for each module is decomposed into further modules until the modules consist of a small enough number of individual implementation units so that the solution for the module can be solved using conventional optimization techniques.
