Abstract: A management apparatus includes a predicting unit and a notifying unit. The predicting unit acquires progress information indicating progress of an image forming process from an image forming device that forms a three-dimensional image, and predicts a completion time of the image forming process. The notifying unit provides a notification about the completion time predicted by the predicting unit to a device owned by a user using the image forming device. The predicting unit re-predicts the completion time as the image forming process progresses. In a case where a difference between a previously-notified completion time and a newly-predicted completion time reaches a predetermined extent, the notifying unit provides a notification about the newly-predicted completion time.

For example, the method is executed by a processor and includes monitoring a user interaction with the MFD, determining a message is to be displayed based on the user interaction with the MFD, changing the message based on historical interactions with the message by a user and a plurality of parameters associated with the message to create an adapted message for the user, and causing the adapted message to be displayed on a display of the MFD.
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a first controller that performs a process dependent on hardware having a function, a second controller that performs a process independent of the hardware, and a power controller that, if there is a reason to resume supply of power to the second controller when supply of power to the first and second controllers has been restricted or stopped, activates both the first and second controllers or only the second controller depending on the reason.
Abstract: An image processing device and method are provided for adjusting background pixels of an image. The device includes memory which stores a background adjustment component which for each of a plurality of pixels of an input image: computes a background strength of the pixel; computes a luminance strength of the pixel; and computes adjusted luminance and adjusted chrominance values for the pixel, as a function of the background strength and luminance strength of the pixel. An image output component outputs an output image derived from the adjusted luminance and adjusted chrominance values for the plurality of pixels, A processor implements the background adjustment component and image output component.
Abstract: An information transmission device includes: a determining unit that determines a situation of an interlocutor who interacts with a user; and a transmission unit that transmits, to the user, information to be provided according to the situation of the interlocutor determined by the determining unit. Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a receiving unit that receives, during or after play of a video, a predetermined operation with respect to the video, an associating unit that associates the received operation with a play location where the received operation has been generated in the video, and a setting unit that sets in response to the received operation an importance degree of the play location associated with the received operation.
Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes a recognition unit, a memory, a registration unit, and an extraction unit. The recognition unit performs recognition of one or more characters included in an image and outputs character information indicating the one or more characters. The memory stores a first specific character and a second specific character in association with each other. The first specific character has an index taking on a value lower than a predetermined value. The index indicates accuracy of the recognition performed by the recognition unit. The second specific character is output after the recognition unit performs the recognition of the first specific character. The registration unit registers at least one character or at least one character string as an extraction target.
Abstract: An image analysis apparatus includes an extraction section, an acquisition section, an exclusion section, and a recognition section. The extraction section extracts, from a target image, a text area including a character. The acquisition section acquires a predetermined target-object condition. The predetermined target-object condition defines a target object. The exclusion section searches for the target object in the text area and excludes the target object from a target of character recognition. The text area is extracted by the extraction section. The target object satisfies the predetermined target-object condition. The recognition section performs character recognition on the text area. The text area is an area from which the target object is excluded.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a display controller that performs comparison in a case where image information in an unsupported format is received, an external server performs conversion of the unsupported format of the image information to a supported format, and an image is formed. The comparison is performed between a piece of print settings information before the conversion and a piece of print settings information after the conversion. The display controller displays at least one of a preview screen and a message indicating redundancy if there is the redundancy in the pieces of print settings information.
Abstract: When monitoring a workspace to determine whether scheduled tasks or chores are completed according to a predetermined schedule, a video monitoring system monitors a region of interest (ROI) to identify employee-generated signals representing completion of a scheduled task. An employee makes a mark or gesture in the ROI monitored by the video monitoring system and the system analyzes pixels in each captured frame of the ROI to identify an employee signal, map the signal to a corresponding scheduled task, update the task as having been completed upon receipt of the employee signal, and alert a manager of the facility as to whether the task has been completed or not.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a memory, plural master circuits, a transmission path, a detection unit, and a reset control unit. The plural master circuits read and write data from and into the memory. Plural instructions and data are transmitted through the transmission path while buffering and arbitrating the instructions and the data. The detection unit detects a buffer overrun in the transmission path. The reset control unit performs reset control for a portion of the transmission path affected by the buffer overrun and master circuits, of the plural master circuits, affected by the buffer overrun.
Abstract: A wireless communication apparatus includes a transmission unit, a transmission controller, and an acceptance unit. The transmission unit transmits an identifier of a network to which the wireless communication apparatus belongs, without designating a destination. The transmission controller controls the transmission unit such that the identifier is presented in a different manner on a terminal that has received the identifier if movement of a person detected around the wireless communication apparatus is predetermined movement. The acceptance unit accepts a connection request using the identifier from the terminal.
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes a selecting unit that selects multiple applications from multiple applications that perform first processing of reading an image in a form corresponding to setting values that are set beforehand and that have to be set to execute each application, and perform second processing with regard to the read image, an executing unit that executes the selected multiple applications, and a controller that controls the executing unit to execute the first processing and the second processing by one application alone, and to not execute the first processing but to execute the second processing by another application with regard to the image read by the one application.
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling curl in sheets between two transports includes a curved baffle placed between the two transports. A thin layer of high velocity air is applied to the curved baffle. The high velocity air layer, which will have a tendency to follow the curved baffle (Coanda effect), will divert sheets (Bernoulli effect) towards the curved baffle. By positioning the curved baffle between the two transports and by applying a uniform air stream to it, a lower pressure area will be created. This will flatten the trajectory of the sheets and ensure acquisition by the downstream transport.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus includes plural detectors and a transition unit. The plural detectors detect a person and have different detection areas. The transition unit makes a transition from a power saving state to a normal state if a return condition that the person is detected by a predetermined detector among the plural detectors is satisfied, the power saving state being a state in which power lower than usual power is supplied, the normal state being a state in which the usual power is supplied. The transition unit sets, as the return condition, a condition that an intention of using the information processing apparatus by the person is detected and a detector, among the plural detectors, having a detection area wider than a detection area of the predetermined detector detects the person.
Abstract: An image processing device includes a neutral edge detection and enhancement component which, for pixels of an input image, computes an edge strength for the pixel as a function of differences between the input luminance value of the pixel and input luminance values of neighboring pixels, computes a neutral adjustment factor for the pixel as a function of the input luminance value of the pixel, and computes a chroma adjustment factor for the pixel as a function of the input chrominance values of the pixel. An adjusted luminance value for the pixel is computed as a function of the input luminance value, the edge strength, and the neutral adjustment factor. Adjusted chrominance values for the pixel may be computed as a function of the input chrominance value, the edge strength, and the chroma adjustment factor. The system allows detection and enhancement of neutral edges in monochrome and color images.
