  • Patent number: 11844637
Abstract: A self-shielded and computer controlled system for performing non-invasive stereotactic radiosurgery and precision radiotherapy using a linear accelerator mounted within a two degree-of-freedom radiation shield coupled to a three-degree of freedom patient table is provided. The radiation shield can include an axial shield rotatable about an axial axis and an oblique shield independently rotatable about an oblique axis, thereby providing improved range of trajectories of the therapeutic and diagnostic radiation beams. Such shields can be balanced about their respective axes of rotation and about a common support structure to facilitate ease of movement. Such systems can further include an imaging system to accurately deliver radiation to the treatment target and automatically make corrections needed to maintain the anatomical target at the system isocenter.

  • Patent number: 11771923
Abstract: An array of force sensors for determining a position of an object, detecting motion of object, and tracking motion of objects in 3D space are described herein. In particular, an array of force sensors can be used to monitor anatomical motion during medical procedures, such as head motion during cranial radiosurgery, to maintain a desired alignment with the anatomical feature. Alerts can be posted to the medical machine operator and the radiosurgery system or scanner can make compensatory adjustments to maintain the desired alignment either after suspension of treatment or dynamically during treatment. Methods of detecting a position, movement or tracking motion of an anatomical feature are also provided herein.

  • Patent number: 11758640
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for plasma confinement utilizing various electrode and valve configurations. In one example, a device includes a first electrode positioned to define an outer boundary of an acceleration volume, a second electrode arranged coaxially with respect to the first electrode and positioned to define an inner boundary of the acceleration volume, at least one power supply to drive an electric current along a Z-pinch plasma column between the first second electrodes, and a set of valves to provide gas to the acceleration volume to fuel the Z-pinch plasma column, wherein an electron flow of the electric current is in a first direction from the second electrode to the first electrode. In additional or alternative examples, a shaping part is conductively connected to the second electrode to, in a presence of the gas, cause a gas breakdown of the gas to generate a sheared flow velocity profile.

  • Publication number: 20230270523
Abstract: Removable marker implants having fiducial markers disposed on multiple elongate members extend and splay laterally outward when deployed thereby providing improved 3D localization and tracking of a portion of the patient's body for stereotactic radiosurgery. Such an approach is particularly useful for tracking of the uterus during radiosurgery treatment of uterine fibroids. Such implants can include an outer sheath that contains the multiple elongate members during delivery into the portion of the body. The elongate members can be slidably disposed within the shaft and advanced into an expanded deployed position by advancement of an applicator shaft or rod within the sheath. Marker implant can also be integrally formed implants with flexible arms having fiducial markers thereon that can be constrained in a sheath for delivery and resiliently splay laterally outward when released from the shaft. Methods of delivery and deployment are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20220241613
Abstract: Devices and methods that allow a user to elect between performing treament planning by inverse planning or to be accomplished by utilizing one or more parameters input that are typically associated with forward planning are described herein. The systems can be configured to produce a treatment plan in a single iteration upon initiation of treatment planning or in response to determining or receiving a target geometry. While the system may be used iteratively in an extensively interactive fashion, viable inverse plans can be generated with a single user interaction, such as a single click, or optionally with no click at all. Advantageously, the system can optionally allows a clinnician to add or adjust parameters or constraints, for example in another iteration, to provide additional autonomy if desired.
