Patent number: 5465916Abstract: An apparatus for winding a synthetic-resin yarn on a spool of predetermined outside diameter has a friction drive roller rotatable about a drive axis and having a substantially cylindrical outer surface of predetermined length centered on the drive axis. A drive can rotate this roller about the drive axis at a substantially constant speed. A support adjacent the friction roller holds the spool for rotation about a spool axis generally parallel to the drive axis and with the spool in radial contact with the surface of the drive roller. A radially outwardly projecting ridge carried on the support axially offset from the surface of the friction roller is of greater outside diameter than the spool. Guides feed the yarn initially to the ridge for winding of the yarn thereon and thereafter for feeding the yarn to the spool for winding of the yarn on the spool.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 1993Date of Patent: November 14, 1995Assignee: Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbHInventor: Gunter Konig

Patent number: 5425227Abstract: In a textile-processing operation wherein a filament is displaced longitudinally continuously past a treatment station and a liquid is applied to the moving filament at the station, a supply of the liquid is held in a container spaced from the station and connected via a conduit to an applicator at the station. Space above the liquid in the container is filled with a gas that is devoid of free oxygen and that is in direct contact with the liquid. This gas above the liquid is pressurized in the container to controlledly force the liquid from the container through the conduit to the applicator at the station. The liquid is kept out of contact with oxygen until it actually has been applied to the filament. In fact the filament is passed over a small-diameter orifice formed in a guide and the liquid is forced from the orifice. The filament directly engages the guide at the orifice and covers the orifice so that the liquid does not contact the ambient air until after it is applied to the filament.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 1993Date of Patent: June 20, 1995Assignee: Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbHInventor: Gunter Konig

Patent number: 5331799Abstract: After forming a package on a spindle from a roving fed to the spindle through a rotatable flyer finger, feed of the roving is stopped to arrest the flyer in a position with the finger anywhere on the package underneath the upper end of the last layer of turns formed on the package. The package is then lowered until the finger is above the upper end of the last layer of the turns formed on the package while the package is rotated in a reverse direction opposite to the forward direction without feeding more roving to the package. The package is rotated in the forward direction through at least one half revolution about the axis without feeding more roving to the package so as to form at least a partial loop of the roving around the package above the upper end of the last layer of the turns and then more roving is fed to the package while same is lowered until the finger is below the upper end of the last layer of the turns. Finally the package is raised to sever the roving upstream of the package.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1992Date of Patent: July 26, 1994Assignee: Zinser Textilmaschinen GmbHInventor: Hans-Peter Weeger
