Abstract: An administrator can use an administrative-wireless-device to control a target wireless device using an SMS message to convey a command. The data of the command message can be encrypted to prevent malicious attacks. The encrypted data may include a universal device identifier unique to the target device, the phone number of the administrative-wireless-device, and a time stamp memorializing command or message creation. Before executing the command, however, the target device compares the phone number of the administrative-wireless-device with the number identified with the incoming SMS message to authenticate the administrative-wireless-device.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods and systems for flat navigation allow users to quickly step directly among lower level webpage item-details of higher level item search results. A user thereby avoids navigating a cumbersome webpage hierarchy. Item details are received from one or more static and real-time resources. The user may navigate among item-detail webpages by using a touch screen, touch pad, key, mouse, or voice commands.

The system includes a client-side document editing engine that accepts requests to edit a document from and displays at least a portion of the document to a user of the client-side system. The system includes a first server-side application engine that processes the requests to edit the document. The system can include a second server-side data storage engine that stores the document in a remote storage location.

Abstract: A messaging system supports a presentation session with participants of the presentation, a presenter and one or more audience members. The message system allows the participants to share messages and documents via respective client/mobile devices. An application on each mobile device allows the audience member to peruse and comment on document portions (e.g., pages, images, or slides) being presented. The presentation sequence for the document portions can be managed by the presenter, or document perusal can be decoupled from the presentation sequence to allow audience members to focus on past or future document portions. Comments of the audience member or other participants can be linked to corresponding document portions. A user may repeat, reprise or continue a past presentation.

Abstract: An administrative or relay device can communicate with a target device, for example to disable lost or stolen devices using an SMS command. The SMS command is encrypted to prevent malicious attacks. The SMS command includes a universal device identifier unique to the target device, the phone number of the relaying device, and a time stamp memorializing command creation. The relaying device relays the encrypted command to the target device. Successful decryption authenticates the administrative or relay device. Before executing the command, however, the target device reviews the unique identifier to verify the target and compares the phone number of the relaying device with the number identified with the incoming SMS message to authenticate the relaying device. The target device also considers an embedded time stamp to determine whether the command is superseded by a subsequently issued though later received command.

Abstract: A system and method for creating a document in a messaging environment is described. A communication including a document specification including zero or more formatting commands and content is received from a sender and processed. The system and method determine whether the document specification is in a done condition, and iterates until done. A formatted document is also created and returned to the sender and recipients.

An automated skills-creation process locates forms on the World Wide Web that requires user interaction, develops skills in support of those interactions, and loads the skills into a skills database. The skills thus developed can simplify subsequent user interactions with the related web resources, such as to facilitate interactions that are partially or wholly based on speech.

Abstract: A system and method for creating, managing, and using an application in a messaging environment is described. A communication including an application specification comprising zero or more commands is received from a sender and processed. The system and method determine whether the application specification is in a done condition, and iterates until done. A confirming specification, including revisions made while iterating, is also created and returned to the sender and recipients.

The integration facilitates improving a parameter of the synthesis, such as cost or time. Abstract: A first device communicates with a remote second device by sending an SMS message that includes an encrypted first device phone number portion and a command, which may also be encrypted. The second device receives the SMS message and decrypts the encrypted first device phone number portion to verify the authenticity of the message by comparing it with a first device phone number included with the message by a cellular carrier. Successful decryption authenticates the first device, and the command is then executed, after being decrypted if it had been encrypted. Further authentication can optionally include decrypting an encrypted unique device identifier and/or phone number of the second device. The second device may also consider an embedded time stamp to determine whether the command is superseded by a subsequently issued command.

Abstract: Live-custom recording functionality is described. Live-custom recording can help a teleconferencing participant overcome situations where the participant may, for example, not have been attentive and therefore may have missed what was communicated. Another example of a situation that can be overcome with techniques described in this paper is one in which the participant cannot hear the speaker due to inadequate or low bandwidth and network connectivity issues. An enhanced conference recording functionality such as the live-custom recording functionality proposed and described herein is designed to capture applicable segments or clips of the teleconference meeting.

Abstract: A cloud marketplace includes a network of data centers that collectively allow users to search and purchase products, including applications and extensions to applications. Each data center supports a marketplace module that executes on computing resources to offer users the products and receive and send product metadata descriptive of the products. The marketplace module in each data center passes the product metadata to a database management system for storage in the data center. The marketplace module also passes the product metadata to an agent module within the data center that is separate from the database management system. The agent module passes the product metadata to agent modules of other data centers via the network so that the product metadata can be synchronized across data centers without having to wait for the database management systems to synchronize the databases.

Abstract: The proposed system tracks user and entity behavior under 3 categories—time, count, and pattern. An event is composed of different fields that describe the event. For example, a log on event could have different fields like username, hostname, log on time, log on type, etc. An event is passed through one or more algorithms, depending on what kind of behavioral information needs to be tracked from the event. For example, a user logon event can be processed under the time category to detect whether the user is logging on at an anomalous time. It can also be processed under the pattern category to detect whether the user is logging on a host that does not fit into the user's regular log on pattern. The decision as to which events are to be processed under which category can be configured external to the system using domain knowledge.

Abstract: A method and system for time series forecasting are described. Forecasting a time series, though uncertain, has a potential to improve decision-making. It gives a picture of what can probably be expected. A live time series typically has trend and seasonality as its innate characteristic features, randomness being obvious in real-time.
