    Abstract: A communication system includes a central cloud server to determine a primary communication path between a radio access network (RAN) node and one or more user equipment (UEs) via a first set of edge devices of a plurality of edge devices. The central cloud server determines a secondary communication path between the RAN node and the one or more UEs via a second set of edge devices, and causes the first set of edge devices to establish the determined primary communication path to service the one or more UEs for uplink and downlink communication. The central cloud server control switching from the primary communication path to the secondary communication path within a threshold time based on a presence of a signal obstruction in the primary communication path to maintain a continuity in the service to the one or more UEs for the uplink and downlink communication.

The method allows the use of a plurality of optionally moveable modems in a network and the use of wired and wireless networks, does not require the presence of a powerful base station, does not require additional time for rebuilding a network when signal transmission conditions are changed or when the number of nodes in a network is changed, allows a network structure to be built and the built structure to be further optimized, and does not require the nodes to store information about the network environment, which substantially lowers the cost of the solution.

The relay UE also transmits the first RRC Reconfiguration Complete message to the network node, wherein the first RRC Reconfiguration Complete message is included in an adaptation layer Protocol Data Unit (PDU) for transmission and the local UE ID for the remote UE is included in a header of the adaptation layer PDU.

The message may include a first indication of a dynamic communication range for the CBF which may be less than or equal to the maximum communication range. The UE may determine a timer value to retransmit the message based on the dynamic communication range. When a timer set to the timer value expires, the UE may retransmit the message to nearby stations and include an indication of the dynamic communication range with the message.

In some embodiments of the invention, retransmission signaling in included as part of regular unicast signaling used for both first transmission and retransmissions.
