  • Patent number: 6787702
Abstract: A harness-applied armoring member for inserting electric wires therein is provided, by which an interference between a harness for supplying electric power and a vehicle body is prevented from occurring when a slide door of the vehicle is opened or closed. The bending radius of the armoring member varies depending on the bending direction thereof. A plurality of pieces are connected in series, a bending angle between the pieces is controlled by a stopper, and the bending direction of a front half of the armoring member is set reverse to that of a rear half thereof. Alternatively, a plurality of convex strips in the circumferential direction of the armoring member and concave grooves between the adjacent convex strips are alternately arranged in the longitudinal direction of the armoring member with varying an inner width of the concave groove depending on the bending direction.

  • Patent number: 6777619
Abstract: An electrical connector comprises a housing configured to house an interconnect mechanism, which defines an on-axis plane that is coplanar with the long axis of the interconnect mechanism. The housing includes at least two receptacles for accepting coupling mechanisms for interconnecting the connector to an electronic component. The centerline axis of at least one of the receptacles is parallel to the on-axis plane and offset from the on-axis plane. In one embodiment, the housing further comprises a first lip having a long axis that is parallel with the on-axis plane, such that when the connector is interconnected to an electronic component, the first lip applies an off-axis force to the component. The off-axis force is applied to the component along a first off-axis that is different than the on-axis. Consequently, resistance to deflection of the connector is provided, as is a more reliable contact engagement between the connector and the interconnected electronic component.

  • Patent number: 6753477
Abstract: A flatwire assembly includes a pair of elongate flatwire segments that are interconnected with a thin, flexible patch that overlies the opposed longitudinal ends of the segments. Conductive traces on the bottom face of the patch are electrically connected to the respective conductive traces of the segments by solder layers that, upon reflow under heat and pressure, respectively extend past an edge of the patch, whereupon visual confirmation of the solder joints between the traces of the patch and the segment is readily obtained. A layer of a thermally-activated or pressure-sensitive adhesive is disposed between the patch and each segment to further mechanically couple the patch to each segment during solder reflow. Longitudinal extensions of the patch substrate are bonded by the adhesive layer to respective portions of the segments farther removed from the segment ends than the solder layer extensions provide enhanced strain relief.
