  • Patent number: 8532278
Abstract: The present invention automatically establishes a connection to each participant of a teleconference. Conference call set up and connect information may be provisioned in a variety of ways, including via a menu-based Dual Tone Multiple Frequency (DTMF) mechanism and via a form or formatted file sent from a subscriber. Additionally, a conference participant is not tied to one telephone number or other such address. The present invention queries a profile database to determine a conference participant's current location before connecting the participant to the conference. Therefore a conference participant who happens to be working from home on a particular day need only update one database, and any conferences in which the telecommuting worker is expected to participate will automatically be connected to the worker's home telephone number, rather than the worker's office telephone number.

  • Patent number: 8520828
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for providing telecommunication services between a SIP network and an SS7 network are disclosed. In one method, SIP/SS7 gateway receives an INVITE message from a SIP proxy server. The SIP/SS7 gateway extracts a called party number from the INVITE message and determines whether a telecommunications service is required and a type of service required for the INVITE message based on the called party number. The SIP/SS7 gateway then formulates an SS7 query to a database corresponding to the identified service type. The SIP/SS7 gateway receives a response from the database and uses data from the response to facilitate completion of the call. In one example, the SIP/SS7 gateway may forward a routing number extracted from the response back to the originating SIP proxy server. In another example, the SIP/SS7 gateway may generate a new INVITE message and forward the new INVITE message to a terminating SIP proxy server.

  • Patent number: 8515039
Abstract: A method and a voice conference system for carrying out a voice conference are disclosed, the system having at least three voice terminals in a communication system. At least one of the voice terminals is associated with a first group such that the voice data provided by the respective receiving channels thereof is decoded into individual voice signals for said group. Said individual voice signals are superimposed to form an aggregate voice signal and the aggregate voice signal is encoded into first aggregate voice data. Furthermore, at least two of the voice terminals are associated with a second group such that the second group has only voice terminals wherein an extensive inactivity on the respective receiving channels thereof is identified. The first aggregate voice data is supplied to the voice terminals associated with the second group by the respective receiving channels for a respective output of the first aggregate voice data.

  • Patent number: 8514840
Abstract: In one aspect, a call distribution in a direct communication network, also designated as a peer-to-peer network is provided. In doing this, the difficulty exists of integrating the call distributing functionality into the peer-to-peer network while retaining the self-organization capability and the fail-safety of existing peer-to-peer networks. To solve for his, items of characteristic information of a number of clients are transmitted to the client carrying out the call distribution, and this client routes an incoming call on the basis of these items of characteristic information.

  • Patent number: 8509414
Abstract: A target phone number previously associated with a first user is presently associated with a second user such that the target phone number is not presently associated with the first user. A caller uses a calling phone number to initiate a phone call to the target phone number. In response, it is determined whether the calling phone number is on a list of phone numbers associated with the first user. If the calling phone number is on the list of phone numbers associated with the first user, then the caller is notified that the target phone number is no longer associated with the first user. It is determined whether the caller wants to continue with the phone call, and if not, the phone call is terminated before it reaches the second user.

  • Patent number: 8503700
Abstract: A piezoelectric speaker includes: a chassis having a wall surface including an opening; a plurality of diaphragms including at least a first piezoelectric diaphragm and second piezoelectric diaphragms which vibrate in phases opposite to each other when a voltage is applied; and a joint member which connects the first and second piezoelectric diaphragms in a positional relationship such that the diaphragms are located at positions different from each other in a thickness direction. One of the diaphragms is provided, in the opening of the chassis, to have one surface facing an outside of the chassis and another surface facing an inside of the chassis. The diaphragm functions as a radiation plate which radiates a sound wave by vibrating at an amplitude generated by synthesizing amplitudes of the first and second piezoelectric diaphragms.

  • Patent number: 8488772
Abstract: Agents in a contact center are grouped dynamically by defining performance metrics against which agents are to be judged, and generating an evaluation score for each of a number of agents by comparing their actual performance data to the defined performance metrics. Agents are assigned to the groups based on their performance scores. This provides the ability to generate reports and route contacts according to actual agent performance judged relative to user-specified performance metrics. The sizes of groups can be adjusted in real time to take account of actual or anticipated levels of contacts with different requirements, and agents can be reallocated among the resized groups on the fly based on the ranking of their evaluation scores.

  • Patent number: 8442203
Abstract: An active call between two parties can be marked as a non-preemptable call if one of the two parties is an authorized agency that desires to prevent premature termination of the call by a third party. The authorized agency sends a signal to a main switch to indicate that non-preemptable call status is desired. The newly established call status is then propagated to other nodes in the system to prevent premature call termination. Non-preemptable status can also be granted to some calls based on the destination of the called number, such as in 911 calls.

  • Patent number: 8433048
Abstract: A system and method for highlighting telephone numbers that are sponsored by advertisers on electronic content, and directing voice calls to those numbers to the corresponding advertiser. The call advertising system receives parameters of an advertising campaign from an advertiser, including telephone numbers in the campaign and an amount per call that the advertiser is willing to pay. The call advertising system transmits an indication of the advertised telephone numbers to a voice communication system. The voice communication system, upon determining that a campaign number is contained in electronic content, can to indicate to users that a call can be made at a rate reduced from what a user would normally pay in order. When the user calls the number, the voice communications system directs the call to the advertiser. The call advertising system tracks the call so that the advertiser can be charged the per-call amount.
