  • Patent number: 10578767
Abstract: A method of simulating a hydrocarbon reservoir is disclosed. A process-based model is generated that mimics a depositional process of the reservoir. The process-based model is analyzed to extract statistics of geometries of a body that forms part of the reservoir, and depositional rules of the body. An object-based modeling method is applied to construct multiple unconditional geologic models of the body using the statistics and the depositional rules. Training images are constructed using the multiple unconditional geologic models. Well data and gross thickness data are assigned into a simulation grid. A single multiple-point geostatistical simulation is performed using the training images. A three-dimensional (3D) reservoir model is constructed using results of the multiple-point geostatistical simulation.

  • Patent number: 10387235
Abstract: A mechanism is provided for reusing importance sampling for efficient cell failure rate estimation of process variations and other design considerations. First, the mechanism performs a search across circuit parameters to determine failures with respect to a set of performance variables. For a single failure region, the initial search may be a uniform sampling of the parameter space. Mixture importance sampling (MIS) efficiently may estimate the single failure region. The mechanism then finds a center of gravity for each metric and finds importance samples. Then, for each new origin corresponding to a process variation or other design consideration, the mechanism finds a suitable projection and recomputes new importance sampling (IS) ratios.

  • Patent number: 9835012
Abstract: System and methods of simulating fluid production in a multi-reservoir system with a common surface network are presented. An equation of state (EOS) characterization of fluids is matched with a delumped EOS model representing different components of the fluids for each reservoir within the multi-reservoir system. Fluid production in the multi-reservoir system is simulated for at least one simulation point in the common surface network, based in part on the delumped EOS model for each reservoir. If the fluids produced during the simulation at the simulation point are mixed fluids from different reservoirs, one or more interpolation tables representing the mixed fluids are generated and properties of the mixed fluids are calculated based on the generated interpolation tables. Otherwise, the properties of the fluids are calculated using the delumped EOS model corresponding to the reservoir from which the fluids are produced.
