  • Patent number: 6904289
Abstract: The mobile telephone includes a detector, a timer and an annunciator. The detector transmits a detection signal when the detector detects that the mobile telephone is in a stand-by mode and is located out of a service area. The timer starts measuring a period of time in response to the detection signal. The annunciator makes at least one of sounds and vibration when a period of time measured by the timer reaches a predetermined first period of time.

  • Patent number: 6856794
Abstract: A highly integrated GPS RF Front End which uses a single conversion stage employs an image rejection mixer stage to eliminate the need for an image reject RF bandpass filter. Also a relatively high sample rate A/D is employed which allows a timeless monolitic IF Filter to be used. The disclosure also discusses a GPS Front End topology that is easily integrated from industry standard building blocks. With the broad variation in potential receiver designs, the present invention includes some specific receiver topologies that lend themselves to a high level of integration. The specific designs presented here are comprised of industry standard building blocks and functions that have been described elsewhere in the related art.

  • Patent number: 6856811
Abstract: A portable communication network comprises plural portable communications units, each providing a unit code identifier, a wave energy transceiver, preferably using RF energy which is enabled for direct communication with any other of the communications units over a limited range, a device for assigning a target code to each signal transmission, a device for detecting the target code in each signal reception, a device for processing a received signal when the target code of the received signal equals the unit code, and a device for retransmitting a received signal when the target code of the received signal differs from the unit code. In this manner, through signal repeating, communication is enabled between any two of the communications units when their separation is greater then the limited range. Automatic routing through the communication network is established between two members of the network. Alternate routes are established as background tasks to be switched in if the current route is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 6839566
Abstract: Method for segmented message transmission wherein each message is first divided into segments and the segments are fragmented. A segment parameter is applied to each segment, and a segment identifier to each fragment. The fragments are provided to a lower level for preparation into frames for transmission. One embodiment is applied to the transmission of short duration messages, such as control messages. A timer is used to detect an erasure within a plurality of transmission frames, wherein the timer uses an average inter-arrival time period between transmitted frames to determine a missing frame. In one embodiment, the time period is given as ?*AIT, wherein ? is a constant value, and AIT is the average inter-arrival time of frames.

  • Patent number: 6810264
Abstract: A power controlling apparatus and method in a mobile communication system. A receiver in a mobile station multiplexes the frame reception result indicator bits for at least two traffic channels received from a transmitter in a base station, inserts the multiplexed frame reception result indicator bits in a pilot signal bit by bit, and transmits the reverse frame. Then, the transmitter extracts the pilot signal from the reverse frame, demultiplexes the frame reception result indicator bits, and performs a power control on the traffic channels based on the values of the frame reception result indicator bits.

  • Patent number: 6799025
Abstract: When directional transmission using user multiplexing is performed in CDMA communication, the phase offset for setting antenna balance adaptively is determined. By this means, the antenna elements giving the maximum or minimum amplitude are dispersed reliably among individual users. As a result, the amplitude bias toward a specific antenna element can be decreased and the load on the transmission amplifier is further alleviated.
