  • Patent number: 9007973
Abstract: Dynamic switching of uplink power control and synchronization in wireless networks involves switching a user equipment (UE) from a transmission point common (TP-common) mode to a transmission point specific (TP-specific) mode in a wireless network. The UE transmits at a high power level in a TP-common mode to compensate for a larger path loss between the UE and the TPs and at a low power level in a TP-specific mode to save battery power based on a smaller path loss between the UE and a specific, nearby TP.

  • Patent number: 9007977
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for establishing time alignment by a terminal in a mobile communication system. First information for discontinuous reception (DRX) operation is received from a base station. A downlink control channel is monitored based on the first information. Second information for identifying a dedicated preamble on the downlink control channel is received from the base station. The dedicated preamble is transmitted to the base station based on the second information. A response message to the transmitted dedicated preamble is received from the base station on a downlink shared channel. The response message includes timing adjustment information and third information for a channel quality indicator (CQI) report. Time alignment is established based on the timing adjustment information included in the response message. The CQI report is transmitted to the base station based on the third information.

  • Patent number: 9001699
Abstract: Systems and methods for forwarding data packets to facilitate an IP telephony communication make use of a media relay to accomplish the forwarding actions. The media relay is configured receive setup signaling indicating a first acceptable originating IP address for received data packets. The media relay also allows the acceptable originating IP address to change once after the initial call setup has occurred. Also, if a REINVITE action occurs during a call, the media relay will allow the acceptable originating IP address to change once after the REINVITE signaling has been completed.

  • Patent number: 9001687
Abstract: A method in a network device. The method is one of estimating a time delay between when a software timestamp is generated for an active measurement protocol test packet and when the active measurement protocol test packet is transmitted from the network device onto a link. The method includes generating an error estimation packet, generating a software timestamp (ts) for the error estimation packet, and transmitting the error estimation packet toward a network interface. The method also includes intercepting the error estimation packet before it is transmitted from the network device onto the link, and generating an interception timestamp (ti) for the error estimation packet after intercepting the error estimation packet. The time delay is estimated based on a difference between the interception timestamp and the software timestamp.

  • Patent number: 8971278
Abstract: The present disclosure presents methods and apparatuses for improved wireless node transmission of advertising beacons based on, for example, the presence of sufficient wireless node resource availability and one or more user equipment (UE) wakeup schedules. For example, the present disclosure describes example methods of advertising beacon transmission by a wireless node, which may include determining that a resource availability opportunity exists for supporting a UE at the wireless node. In another aspect, methods may include tuning to a non-serving channel based on determining that the resource availability opportunity exists. According to such example methods, the non-serving channel may be different from a serving channel of the wireless node. Furthermore, the example methods may include transmitting an advertising beacon on the non-serving channel. Upon successful receipt of the advertising beacon, the UE may scan for the serving channel of the wireless node for subsequent wireless network access.

  • Patent number: 8958383
Abstract: A method for transmitting HARQ-ACK information based on transmission diversity is provided. The method includes configuring two component carriers, referred to as Cells, for a User Equipment (UE); when a base station configures the UE to transmit HARQ-ACK information adopting the transmission diversity technique, the base station indicates dynamically whether an other Cell is scheduled in the same subframe via a PDCCH scheduling a PDSCH of one Cell, so as to enable the UE to know the number of Cells scheduled in the same downlink subframe by the base station, and to generate HARQ-ACK information based on the number of Cells. Unnecessary spatial bundling of the HARQ-ACK information may be avoided, unnecessary downlink data retransmission is reduced and throughput of downlink data is improved.

  • Patent number: 8929356
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for mobile user identification and tracking for load balancing in packet processing systems. Packet processing systems, such as network tool optimizer (NTO) systems, are configured to receive packets associated with multiple mobile users, to extract user identification information from the packets, to store identity binding information for the mobile users, to track changes in identification information for mobile users within a communication system by analyzing control information within packets for the communication system, and to forward packets to one or more tool ports associated with the packet processing system. The packet processing systems disclosed thereby allow for user packets to be identified and sent to the same load-balanced network tool, even though the user identification information changes over time within the communication system.

  • Patent number: 8891473
Abstract: Various embodiments for deduplicated data processing congestion control in a computing environment are provided. In one such embodiment, a congestion target setpoint is calculated using one of a proportional constant, an integral constant, and a derivative constant, wherein the congestion target setpoint is a virtual dimension setpoint. A single congestion metric is determined from a sampling of a plurality of combined deduplicated data processing congestion statistics in a number of active deduplicated data processes. A congestion limit is calculated from a comparison of the single congestion metric to the congestion target setpoint, the congestion limit being a manipulated variable. The congestion limit is compared to the number of active deduplicated data processes. If the number of active deduplicated data processes are less than the congestion limit, a new deduplicated data process of the number of active deduplicated data processes is spawned.
