Abstract: Disclosed are a method and device for transmitting and receiving broadcast signals. The disclosed reception method comprises a step for extracting second program table information which indicates the association properties between a plurality of programs, the programs being obtained by using a broadcast stream which comprises at least one program, program table information which indicates the broadcast stream, and at least one broadcast service, from a received broadcast signal. The method further comprises a step for parsing the broadcast stream by using the extracted program table information; and a step for acquiring information about the groups to which the plurality of programs belong by using the extracted second program table information.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to the field of communications, and discloses a method and an apparatus for interrupting and resuming live broadcast of streaming media. The method includes: buffering, in real time, streaming media data during live broadcast of streaming media; interrupting the live broadcast when a broadcast insertion command is received; playing broadcast insertion information associated with the broadcast insertion command and then playing the buffered streaming media data at a specified speed from a start moment a buffer play start moment for playing the buffered streaming media data, the specified speed being higher than a live broadcast speed of the streaming media, until a playback process of the buffered streaming media data is synchronized with the live broadcast of the streaming media so as to stop the playback process of the buffered streaming media data, and resuming the live broadcast.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus of transmitting broadcast signals, the apparatus including, an encoder for encoding service data, a frame builder for building at least one signal frame by mapping the encoded service data, a modulator for modulating data in the built at least one signal frame by an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing, OFDM, scheme and a transmitter for transmitting the broadcast signals having the modulated data.

Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a data stream processing apparatus. The data stream processing apparatus includes a demultiplexer, a data processor and a backward buffer. The demultiplexer accesses and demultiplexes a multimedia data stream and output a first data stream. The multimedia data stream includes a plurality of data units. The data processor receives and processes the first data stream. The backward buffer stores a first portion of multimedia data stream, wherein the data units of the first portion of the multimedia data stream has been accessed by the demultiplexer, but has not been processed by the data processor. If a user demands changing a playback content of the multimedia data stream, the data units stored in the backward buffer are re-transmitted to the demultiplexer for filtering out a second data stream corresponding to the demand.

Abstract: When switching sources, resolutions or refresh rates in a video distribution network, switching times are reduced by maintaining video lock and security authentication between a video switcher and a video sink. The scaler maintains video lock and security authentication by continuing to generate video timing data during switching events. The scaler also facilitates an aesthetically pleasing transition by generating image content data prior to and after the switching event.

Abstract: A system for enabling a digital video recorder to serve as a content delivery server is disclosed. In particular, the system may include deploying a content delivery server at a cell site, which may be provided a content package from a satellite or fiber network. Additionally, the system may include deploying, at a customer premises, a digital video recorder that may serve as a content delivery server and may be equipped for wireless communication. The content package may be transmitted from the content delivery server of the cell site to the digital video recorder. Upon receiving a request for content from a user device, the digital video recorder may transmit the requested content to the user device if the digital video recorder is in range of the user device. Otherwise, the content delivery server at the cell site may transmit the requested content to the user device.

A network personal video recorder receives, from a user, authentication credentials that provide the network personal video recorder access, via the Internet, to a storage medium belonging to or associated with the user. After the user instructs the network personal video recorder to record a video program, the network personal video recorder stores a copy of the video program on the user's storage medium using the user-provided authentication credentials. Thereafter, when the user wishes to view the video program, the user can instruct the network personal video recorder to read the copy of the video program from the storage medium and play the video program on a device of the user.

The receiving unit receives a broadcast signal including fast information channel (FIC) data, mobile service data, and a service signaling channel, the FIC data including a field indicating that a table signaling service guide bootstrap information to the service signaling channel is included therein, and the mobile service data and the service signaling channel are packetized into an RS frame belonging to a desired ensemble. The demodulator demodulates the received broadcast signal. The first handler acquires service guide bootstrap information from the table included in the service signaling channel. And, the second handler accesses a service guide announcement channel by using the service guide bootstrap information.
