  • Patent number: 5265510
Abstract: A material-working and tool control system for use with a workbench includes a system platform in rotatable, co-planar communication with the workbench. Further included is a tool-carrying platform. Also provided are first and second protractor assemblies, each having first and second legs which are adjustably hinged to each other. An opposite end of the first leg is in pivotal communication with the workbench surface through an axis-of-rotation normal to the workbench, and an opposite end of the second leg of the first protractor assembly is in pivotal communication with the tool-carrying platform through an axis-of-rotation also normal to the workbench. A plane is defined by the hinged relationship between the legs of the first protractor assembly which plane is normal to a plane defined by the hinged relationship between the legs of the second protractor assembly.

  • Patent number: 5243891
Abstract: An apparatus for allowing a craftsman to make uniform cuts in building material. The apparatus includes a hand-held electrically operated circular saw as well as a slide for guiding the building material in a first direction. First and second members are used for guiding the circular saw in a second direction. The craftsman is thereby able to repeatedly make uniform cuts in building material by manually sliding the building material on the slide and then moving one of the members in the second direction so as to cause the circular saw to cut the building material.

  • Patent number: 5243889
Abstract: A cut-off machine for cutting off predetermined lengths from a moving length of roll form material such as tubing adapted to be positioned downstream from a source comprising a plurality of cut-off assemblies which are reciprocated longitudinally of the moving length of material and operated during the movement to sever plural predetermined lengths. The reciprocating and cutting movements are derived from a differential beam pivot assembly wherein one end of the beam is driven in a linear reciprocating path by a crank and the other end of the beam is connected to reciprocate the cut-off assemblies such that they are driven at a speed corresponding to the speed of the tube at the time the lengths of tubing are cut off. The apparatus can be adjusted to cut tubes of different lengths by moving the pivot point of the differential beam. The apparatus includes a mechanism for selectively disabling the operation of the cut-off assemblies and actuating them to permit greater lengths of tubes to be cut-off.

  • Patent number: 5239904
Abstract: A punch is disclosed, which can be used with an automatic paper feeder or a plane paper copier for receiving sheet-like members one by one from such machine and forming punched holes in each sheet-like member at a punching position thereof. A punching member is disposed in correspondence to the punching position for effecting punching with a predetermined stroke. A dimensional strain generated in an electrical-to-mechanical conversion element such as a piezoelectric element or a magnetostriction element is transmitted after enlargement by an enlarging member disposed to surround the element through a movable output terminal and an operation transmission lever to the punching member to cause high speed operation thereof in a predetermined stroke range. High quality punched holes free from curved edges or the like difficiency thus can be formed even in a continuous feed state without holding the sheet-like members stationary for a while.

  • Patent number: 5226345
Abstract: A saw guide for use with a hand power saw comprising in combination a guiding platform with two generally planar edges which underlie or form two guiding edges for guiding the shoe plate of a hand power saw across a workpiece to make cuts at various angles, and two workpiece guide bars; one guide bar is generally stationary, engaging the end surface of a workpiece to initially align the guide; the other guide bar is slideable, engaging the opposite end surface of a workpiece. The sliding guide bar is releasably clamped in position. Both guide bars work in unison to hold the saw guide in relation to both workpiece edges, allowing the saw guide to slide along the top surface of a workpiece, but not swivel out of position. Two kerf gauges are slideably interlocked at both ends of the stationary guide bar. These gauges measure a cut line along both the top surface and edge surface of a workpiece. These gauges are easily swapped or replaced for use with different power saws, blades or blade tilts.

  • Patent number: 5214990
Abstract: A method and system for forming an artwork on a sheet material and punching holes therethrough while the sheet material is disposed on a working surface so that the holes are punched in precise registration with the artwork. The method comprises the steps of providing for each hole to be punched a corresponding socket in the working surface, and securing the sheet material on the working surface so as completely to overlap all of the sockets whereupon the artwork is formed on the sheet material in precise registration with a predetermined origin of the working surface. Associated with each of the sockets is a punch and block combination disposed on opposite surfaces of the sheet material, the block being formed of a softer material than the punch and having an operating surface larger than a cutting surface of the punch.
