  • Patent number: 7047858
Abstract: A chamfer cutting device for cuffing packaging materials comprises a die and a knife part which has a plurality of knives. The die can be moved toward the knife part in order to carry out a cut. The knives are arranged individually in the knife part in a force-dependent manner in such a way that their position with respect to the tool plate varies in a defined way as a function of the force produced by contact with the packaging material or the die. In the event of contact between the knife and the die, a force acts on the knife which does not exceed a predefined maximum force. The chamfer cutting device has the advantage that the die can be guided right up to the knives.

  • Patent number: 7047857
Abstract: A machine for cutting the border of a workpiece using one or more water jet cutting tools separately carried by one or more monorail track mounted carriage assemblies is disclosed. The machine can also include an aperture forming apparatus for forming circular openings and/or elongated slots in the workpiece prior to/or simultaneously with the border trimming operation, all while the workpiece occupies a single work station in the machine. In one embodiment, the aperture forming apparatus features a cutting tool mounted on an elongate arm affixed to and extending from a plate which is fixedly oriented in a horizontal plane. While so oriented, a motor and gear assembly causes the plate to wobble in a circular pattern in the plane to, in turn, cause the tool to make a circular cut in the workpiece. In another embodiment of the apparatus, a motor rotates a cam carried on a free end of a stationary arm, the cam containing an eccentrically mounted cutting tool.

  • Patent number: 7047859
Abstract: An optical recording medium-manufacturing apparatus which is capable of reducing wear of a cut-forming blade section used for forming a cut in a resin layer, without increasing the component costs of the apparatus. An ultrasonic horn includes a hollow-cylindrical cut-forming blade section for being pushed into a resin layer formed on one side of a disk-shaped substrate, thereby forming a circular cut in the resin layer. A control section controls motion of the ultrasonic horn caused by a moving mechanism. The control section causes the ultrasonic horn to be pushed in to the resin layer while causing ultrasonic vibration thereof to thereby form the cut, and while maintaining a state of ultrasonic vibration of the abutment section and a pushed-in state of the cut-forming blade section, causes the punching blade section to be pushed into the disk-shaped substrate, to form the central hole.

  • Patent number: 7047649
Abstract: A hand-held electrical device having a power cord that provides enhanced retainment of the power cord to a receptacle of the hand-held electrical device during operation of the hand-held electrical device. The power cord includes an enlarged tip portion that provides axial resistance against removal of the power cord from the receptacle of the hand-held electrical device when the power cord is operatively coupled to receptacle of the hand-held electrical device. The axial resistance provided by the enlarged tip portion increases the force necessary to remove the power cord from the receptacle of the hand-held electrical device, and thus decreases the likelihood of the power cord being inadvertently detached from the hand-held electrical device during operation of the hand-held electrical device.

  • Patent number: 7044043
Abstract: An apparatus for sizing at a single workstation pleated shades and mini blinds in a particular dimension uses a sizing device that includes hydraulic actuated horizontal and vertical blades and a cutting rail assembly. The hydraulic actuated horizontal and vertical blades are used to respectively cut the components of a pleated shade or a mini blind, such as head rails, bottom rails and a pleated blind or aluminum slats. The horizontal and the vertical blades are sequentially operated to prevent the blades from colliding with each other. The cutting rail assembly has multiple stacked guiding blocks so that the pleated shade and the mini blind can be held in different tiers and be simultaneously cut at the single workstation.

  • Patent number: 7044040
Abstract: Leading and trailing edge stitch tab scrap strippers utilize pivot arms which are secured to die block bodies for pivotable motion intermediate their two ends. One end of each arm is adapted to engage a stitch tab scrap portion to be stripped and to effect the removal of the tab scrap from a box blank from which it has been cut. A biasing force is applied against a second end of the pivot arm. The pivot arm is caused to pivot in response to the rotation of an upper male slotting head and a lower die cutting anvil. This pivotal movement is effective to strip or to eject the severed stitch tab scrap.

  • Patent number: 7040023
Abstract: A reciprocating saw is provided having a motor oriented within a housing for operably driving a saw bar and blade holder in a reciprocating motion. The blade holder has a longitudinal slot for receiving a saw blade, and a transverse aperture extending into the longitudinal slot for receiving a follower. A sleeve is pivotally mounted upon the body, and has a circum-axial cam groove formed therein cooperating with the follower. Rotation in a first lock direction urges the follower into the longitudinal slot for engaging the saw blade and rotation of the sleeve in a second unlock direction allows the follower to retract. A biasing member is included for biasing the sleeve in the first lock direction. The sleeve central bore is adapted to provide clearance for the follower such that the sleeve is permitted to axially translate relative to the body for assembly or disassembly of the blade holder.

  • Patent number: 7028405
Abstract: Vibratory shavers are provided having a battery powered DC motor, which when energized rotates a weight eccentrically mounted to a motor shaft. The rotating weight imparts vibratory motion in the shaver housing and thereby a razor cartridge attached to the head of the shaver. The housing is specially designed so that the shaver head will move more front to back than side to side. This can be achieved (a) with the shaver housing having a wider aspect than a front to back aspect; (b) by thickening the side walls of the neck of the shaver relative to the front and back walls of the neck; and (c) by appropriately positioning and designing braces of varied thicknesses. The housing of the shaver may be permanently sealed and provided with a battery that may be recharged via induction. Alternatively, a cap can be provided to provide access to a replaceable battery.

  • Patent number: 7028598
Abstract: A rotary printing press has a folding station where the printed web is perforated both transversely and longitudinally in order to expedite subsequent folding thereof into signatures. In order to incorporate a longitudinal perforator into the folding station without adding to its size, a longitudinally perforating blade similar to a circular saw is mounted to a blade carrier shaft which is rotatably supported opposite a feed roller by which the web is frictionally fed into and through the folding station. An annular, longitudinally grooved anvil is formed circumferentially on the feed roller for engaging the longitudinally perforating blade via the web being thereby perforated. The longitudinally perforating blade is movable with the blade carrier shaft into and out of perforating engagement with the anvil on the feed roller.
