Abstract: A pressure method for an electrode without causing any breakage of a current collecting material. The electrode structure comprises the current collecting material and an electrode layer. The electrode layer has a smaller surface area than a surface area of the current collecting material. The work roll with the concave portion pressurizes the electrode layer coated on the current collecting material while the convex portion to the section of the current collecting material without the electrode layer coated thereon where said section of the current collecting material is the predetermined distance away from the electrode layer, thereby elongating the electrode layer and the current collecting material.

  • Patent number: 6862983
Abstract: A fluid delivery system supplies two or more fluids to a rotatable shaft integrated within a device such as a mechanical press and develops damped clearance spaces at the bearing surfaces of the fluid coupling device. In one arrangement, a rotary union is adapted for driving rotation by the shaft and provides two fluid pathways disposed in flow communication with a fluid access channel formed in the shaft. Bearing support is provided by an oil film present within a clearance space defined between the rotary union and a stationary housing disposed thereabout. In another arrangement, a stationary fluid transfer device is adapted for non-rotation and disposed within a crankshaft cavity to define a clearance space there between. A fluid pathway formed therein communicates fluid to the crankshaft access channel. Bearing support is provided by an oil film present in the clearance space. There are no sliding face seals in the arrangements.

  • Patent number: 6851635
Abstract: A device for grinding spices such as salt, pepper, cinnamon, etc. has a grinder rotor which has a removable keeper member which facilitates the ready removal of the rotor for cleaning or replacement. The grinder elements are made of ceramic material such as alumina silicate which eliminates the possibility of corrosion or rusting as with metal parts. The mill provides dual grinding action by utilizing separate grinding elements to provide either coarse grinding or fine grinding, as may be desired. For coarse grinding, the condiment only passes through the coarse grinding element while for fine grinding, the condiment first passes through the coarse grinding element and then passes through the fine grinding element.

  • Patent number: 6851356
Abstract: Calender with a roll stack and process for arranging rolls in a roll stack of a calender, the calender comprising two end rolls in a press plane and a plurality of middle rolls between the two end rolls. At least one of the middle rolls has an elastic surface and has a displacement (x) relative to the press plane, the size of the displacement (x) being selected based on a wavelength of a critical natural frequency within the roll stack. The end rolls and the at least one middle roll define two nips therebetween, the displacement (x) effecting a difference in distance of a fraction of a wavelength on a surface of the at least one middle roll between the two nips. An adjusting device adjusts the displacement of the at least one middle roll on the basis of a preset displacement (x), which depends on the wavelength.

  • Patent number: 6851355
Abstract: The pressing method includes the first step of displacing a sub-piston provided within a sub-cylinder from its initial position to press working fluid such that the working fluid is introduced via a check valve into a main cylinder to displace a main piston provided therein, and the second step of causing the sub-piston to return to the initial position such that the working fluid is supplied to the sub-cylinder. The first and second steps are repeated successively until the working fluid in the main cylinder attains a prescribed pressure level. With this method, variation in the way of pressing an object is alleviated, contamination due to the working fluid is prevented, and downsizing of the pressing mechanism is enabled.
