  • Patent number: 8743719
Abstract: There is provided a method for allocating network rates to a plurality of mobile terminals through which users access possibly different applications through a network having a certain limited total bandwidth to allocate. The method comprises an optimization operation which uses a quality utility function as input which indicates for a certain application the quality perceived by a user depending on the allocated data rate, preferably further also depending on the channel condition. Then there is performed an optimizing operation such that it calculates a combined quality measure based on the quality utility functions for the different applications and for different possible resource allocations to the plurality of applications in such a way that said quality measure is optimized.

  • Patent number: 8730887
Abstract: A method for transmitting information includes: by a NodeB, receiving information reported by a User Equipment (UE) through an Enhanced Dedicated Channel (E-DCH) transmission channel, and determining the UE corresponding to the received information according to UE ID information carried in the received information. A system and NodeB for transmitting information are also provided. • Patent number: 8718061
Abstract: A data center network system and a packet forwarding method are provided. The data center network includes a management server and a plurality of machines containing physical machines and virtual machines. The management server configures a logical media access control (MAC) address for each of the machines, wherein most significant bytes of each of the logical MAC addresses are set as 0. When a data packet is about to be sent from a physical machine, the physical machine executes an encapsulation procedure on the data packet for forwarding the data packet to an intermediate node between a transmitter and a receiver of the data packet, and the intermediate node executes a decapsulation procedure on the data packet for forwarding the data packet to the true receiver. Accordingly, the number of virtual machines exposed to the forwarding table of Ethernet switches can be effectively reduced.

  • Patent number: 8705398
Abstract: There is provided a mechanism for reporting buffer status information to a communication network control element when transmission via both a licensed and an unlicensed spectrum is conducted and offloading of traffic is executed. After an offloading value indicating the amount of traffic which can be offloaded from a transmission over a licensed spectrum to a transmission over an unlicensed spectrum is estimated, the UE determines a buffer size of at least one transmission buffer used in a transmission over the licensed spectrum and the unlicensed spectrum. Then, buffer status information is sent to the eNB wherein the estimated offloading value is considered. The eNB can then allocate resources for the transmission over the licensed band while benefits by the offloading to the unlicensed band are considered in the resource allocation.

  • Patent number: 8699317
Abstract: A base station configures a first carrier group and a second carrier group in a wireless device. The wireless device transmits first uplink signals in the second carrier group employing a first secondary carrier in the second carrier group as a timing reference carrier. The wireless device autonomously changes the timing reference carrier to a second secondary carrier in the second carrier group. The second secondary carrier is an active carrier different from the first secondary carrier. • Patent number: 8693353
Abstract: Systems, devices, and computer readable media for optimizing serial communication networks provide an intelligent network gateway through which network data flows. Systems and devices monitor network requests for data packets supplied by slave computing devices, examine the supplied data packets, and copy the supplied data packets to a memory device. The supplied data packets are delivered to a first requesting network device and when an additional network request for the data packets is made by a second requesting network device the data packets are delivered from the memory device to the second requester in response to the additional network request without interrupting the slave computing device to redundantly supply the data packet. Polling by multiple requester devices for redundant data from slave computing devices is avoided. Communication response times are improved, data caching is provided for devices that have no logging memory, and optimum communication settings can be automatically determined.
