  • Patent number: 8934332
Abstract: A system is disclosed for concurrently processing order sensitive data packets. A first data packet from a plurality of sequentially ordered data packets is directed to a first offload engine. A second data packet from the plurality of sequentially ordered data packets is directed to a second offload engine, wherein the second data packet is sequentially subsequent to the first data packet. The second offload engine receives information from the first offload engine, wherein the information reflects that the first offload engine is processing the first data packet. Based on the information received at the second offload engine, the second offload engine processes the second data packet so that critical events in the processing of the first data packet by the first offload engine occur prior to critical events in the processing of the second data packet by the second offload engine.

  • Patent number: 8913597
Abstract: A cyclic prioritized multiple access method is disclosed which includes Fixed Deterministic Post-Backoff. Fixed deterministic post-backoff reduces conflicts between access points of overlapping cells. Contention-free sessions can be generated, one from each overlapping cell. Each active access point engages in a fixed deterministic post-backoff. A fixed deterministic backoff delay (Bkoff times a fixed number of idle time slots) is used by all access points, with the value of Bkoff being greater than the number of overlapping cells. The Bkoff should be large enough to enable the traffic that needs to be accommodated by the channel. Each access point has a backoff timer that is counted down using the shortest interframe space possible. A contention-free session is initiated when the backoff timer expires, and it is then reset to the value of Bkoff to start a new cycle.

  • Patent number: 8913483
Abstract: In a hierarchical switching architecture that includes at least one lower level managed switching element that connects to several higher level managed switching elements, some embodiments provide a method of identifying a higher level managed switching element to which the lower level managed switching element forwards a packet for further processing. The method computes a value based on a set of attributes of the packet. The method identifies a record from a hierarchy traversal table based on the computed value. The record specifies (1) a first higher level managed switching element as a primary higher level managed switching element and (2) a second higher level managed switching element as a secondary higher level managed switching element. The primary and secondary higher level managed switching elements are for forwarding the packet for further processing. The method forwards the packet to one of the higher level managed switching elements.

  • Patent number: 8897251
Abstract: A base station device is provided with features in which multicast data can be prevented from deterioration in the accuracy of channel estimation due to interference of a unicast data pilot signal when multicast data and unicast data are multiplexed for transmission. In this device, a unicast pilot signal generating unit (105-1) generates a unicast data pilot signal, a multicast pilot signal generating unit (105-2) generates a multicast data pilot signal, a disposing unit (106) disposes a unicast data symbol, a multicast data symbol, the unicast data pilot signal, and the multicast pilot signal at either position on a two-dimensional plane comprised of a frequency axis and a time axis to output them to an IFFT unit (107). In this case, the disposing unit (106) disposes the multicast data pilot signal at a position on the two-dimensional plane comprised of the frequency axis and the time axis where the unicast data pilot signal does not interfere with it.

  • Patent number: 8891531
Abstract: A first adaptor implements a first communication protocol and a second adaptor implements a converged network protocol, which facilitates communication of packets encoded with a second communication protocol with a third communication protocol network. Parameters are configured in a memory for communication between the first adaptor and the second adaptor in the converged network protocol to indicate to the second adaptor that the converged network protocol is supported, wherein the first adaptor does not support the converged network protocol. A packet is received at the first adaptor encoded in the second communication protocol and forwarded to the second adaptor to forward to the third communication protocol network. A command is received at the second adaptor, directed to the first adaptor, to implement a function in the converged network protocol using the parameters in the memory to support transmission of packets between the first and the second adaptors.

  • Patent number: 8885472
Abstract: The systems and methods described herein allow for the scaling of output-buffered switches by decoupling the data path from the control path. Some embodiment of the invention include a switch with a memory management unit (MMU), in which the MMU enqueues data packets to an egress queue at a rate that is less than the maximum ingress rate of the switch. Other embodiments include switches that employ pre-enqueue work queues, with an arbiter that selects a data packet for forwarding from one of the pre-enqueue work queues to an egress queue.
