  • Patent number: 10735696
Abstract: A backup communication system and method provides communicating between a video doorbell and a doorbell sound output device when communication between the video doorbell and a remote server us unavailable. When a front button of the video doorbell is pressed or motion is detected in front of the video doorbell, the video doorbell attempts to send a message to the remote server via a wireless local area network (WLAN). The video doorbell determines when the message is not received by the remote server, such as when the WLAN is not connected to the internet and/or the remote server does not acknowledge the message, and sends, via the WLAN, a broadcast message to the doorbell sound output device. The doorbell sound output device detects the broadcast message from the video doorbell and generates the audio tone.

  • Patent number: 10613821
Abstract: A machine is configured to identify a media file that, when played to a user, is likely to modify an emotional or physical state of the user to or towards a target emotional or physical state. The machine accesses play counts that quantify playbacks of media files for the user. The playbacks may be locally performed or detected by the machine from ambient sound. The machine accesses arousal scores of the media files and determines a distribution of the play counts over the arousal scores. The machine uses one or more relative maxima in the distribution in selecting a target arousal score for the user based on contextual data that describes an activity of the user. The machine selects one or more media files based on the target arousal score. The machine may then cause the selected media file to be played to the user.

  • Patent number: 10560661
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for detecting and remedying potential incongruence in a video conference. A camera of a video conferencing system may capture video images of a conference room. A processor of the video conferencing system may identify locations of a plurality of participants within an image plane of a video image. Using face and shape detection, a location of a center point of each identified participant's torso may be calculated. A region of congruence bounded by key parallax lines may be calculated, the key parallax lines being a subset of all parallax lines running through the center points of each identified participant. When the audio device location is not within the region of congruence, audio captured by an audio device may be adjusted to reduce effects of incongruence when the captured audio is replayed at a far end of the video conference.

  • Patent number: 10554887
Abstract: An audio/video (A/V) recording and communication doorbell, including a camera, a speaker, a microphone, a power manager, a battery, an AC/DC rectifier, and a DC/DC converter. The doorbell is configured for connection to an external AC power source through the AC/DC rectifier and the DC/DC converter. The power manager is configured to draw power, up to a threshold power, from the AC power source and to draw supplemental power from the battery such that the power drawn from the AC power source never exceeds the threshold power. The present A/V recording and communication doorbell can thus be connected to an existing household AC power supply and an existing doorbell signaling device without causing inadvertent sounding of the signaling device.

  • Patent number: 10554908
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments relate to the application of media effects, such as visual overlays, sound effects, etc. to a video conversation. A media effect may be applied as a reaction to an occurrence in the conversation, such as in response to an emotional reaction detected by emotion analysis of information associated with the video. Effect application may be controlled through gestures, such as applying different effects with different gestures, or canceling automatic effect application using a gesture. Effects may also be applied in group settings, and may affect multiple users. A real-time data channel may synchronize effect application across multiple participants. When broadcasting a video stream that includes effects, the three channels may be sent to an intermediate server, which stitches the three channels together into a single video stream; the single video stream may then be sent to a broadcast server for distribution to the broadcast recipients.
