  • Patent number: 10238782
Abstract: A catheter apparatus can include a first magnet coupled to a catheter and a second magnet configured to couple to a patient's skin. When the catheter and the first magnet are positioned within a patient's body, the second magnet can exert a magnetic force on the first magnet that stabilizes the catheter relative to the second magnet. The second magnet can be directly attached to the patient's skin or secondary devices such as straps can be used to place the second magnet in a fixed position relative to the patient's body. In some implementations, a plurality of magnets can facilitate holding the catheter in a substantially fixed position within the patient.

  • Patent number: 10201455
Abstract: The present disclosure discussed a handpiece for trans-canal delivery of a therapeutic substance to the inner ear. The handpiece can be inserted into the middle ear via a surgical tympanotomy approach. The handpiece can enable a controlled injection of a therapeutic substance directly through the round window membrane and into the inner ear. The direct delivery of the therapeutic substance to the inner ear can enable the delivery of a precise amount of therapeutic substance into the inner ear. Because the therapeutic substance is delivery directly to the inner ear the delivery of the therapeutic substance is not subject to limitations on molecule size and inconsistent diffusion rates that are present when therapeutic substances are diffused across the round window membrane.

  • Patent number: 10201655
Abstract: An apparatus provides targeted placement of openings for infusing fluids into a body. The apparatus provides a driving force to a penetrating medical device, such as a needle, when the apparatus tip encounters material of high resistance. When the apparatus tip encounters a low resistance material, no further driving force is applied to the apparatus due to contraction of an element made of interlaced flexible elements. A multi-opening needle is provided in some embodiments wherein placement of one of the openings in a target region with a relatively lower external pressure allows pressurized fluid to exit the needle while openings remaining in higher pressure, non-target regions do not release substantial amounts of the fluid.

  • Patent number: 10188804
Abstract: A needle guard device mountable to a pre-filled syringe in its ready-to-fill state. The device includes a lock collar and a device shield biased to move relative to the lock collar. The lock collar interfaces with the syringe neck to attach the device to the syringe. With the removal of a needle shield assembly comprising rigid and soft needle shields, the lock collar and device shield are free to move proximally along the syringe neck and interact with a syringe step down area to activate the device. As the device moves proximally, retention arms of the device shield interact with the syringe step down, causing the arms to deflect radially outwards to disengage from the lock collar triggering the device shield to move from a first position to a second position.
