Abstract: An intaglio ink composition and method of using the same for printing by the intaglio process are disclosed. The composition comprises a pigment, a vehicle composed basically of a resin and solvent, and a small amount, e.g., 0.005 to 0.5 wt.%, of an antioxidant composition consisting of a mixture of phenolic and amine antioxidants. The antioxidant composition serves to reduce the tendency of gravure ink formulations to streak during the printing process. A preferred gravure ink formulation contains a small amount of an antioxidant composition consisting of a mixture of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol and 4,4'-bis(1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutylphenyl)amine.
Abstract: An ink jet ink formulated to substantially reduce or eliminate start-up problems when an ink jet apparatus is initially discharged. The ink comprises at least two fluid components. Abstract: Acrylonitrile is a monomer that is widely used in the production of a vast variety of polymers. Undesirable quantities of residual unpolymerized acrylonitrile are often present in polymers. The residual or free acrylonitrile in polymers can be reacted with certain thiols in order to reduce their content in the polymer. In the reaction between these thiols and acrylonitrile products are formed which exhibit antioxidant ability.

Abstract: An aqueous latex consisting essentially of an acid modified vinyl ester interpolymer and 0.8 parts by weight or less of a protective colloid per 100 parts by weight of interpolymer. The vinyl ester interpolymer comprises about 3 to about 7 weight percent of carboxylic acid groups supplied by an interpolymerized C.sub.4 -C.sub.10 vinylene monobasic carboxylic acid monomer. The aqueous latex is useful as an aqueous dielectric coating binder in the manufacture of electrographic recording materials.
Abstract: A recording liquid is characterized by containing as a dye a compound represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 each represent hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl, or C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkoxy, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 represent hydrogen or sulfo in salt form with base, and Q.sub.1 represents naphthyl substituted by hydroxyl and by sulfo in salt form with base.

Abstract: A heterologous ink composition for use in an ink jet apparatus features two miscibly incompatible components made compatible by the use of a common solvent having misability for both aqueously and non-aqueously miscible components. The heterologous ink composition derives its print quality characteristic from the non-aqueously miscible component and its good jetability and samll dot size from its aqueously miscible component.
Abstract: During production of asphaltic concrete mixtures, the mix controls of a mixing plant are periodically adjusted to proportion fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, and asphalt cement in accordance with a new Riguez Index test thereby to produce pavement materials which when compacted contains a predetermined, controlled and substantially constant volume of air voids and/or percent voids filled (film thickness). The Riguez Index test is a volumetric analysis method which can quickly, i.e., within an hour, be performed in that it mathematically correlates the variations in the physical properties of the aggregated with the desired voidage to be attained in the compacted mixture. Under the test, both mix design and proportioning at the plant site are performed over a single sieve size, the No. 4 sieve being preferred.
