    Abstract: A process for producing ethylene and acetic acid is proposed in which an ethane- and oxygen-containing reaction input stream is formed and a portion of the ethane and of the oxygen in the reaction input stream is converted into the ethylene and the acetic acid by oxidative dehydrogenation to obtain a process gas, wherein the process gas contains the unconverted portion of the ethane and of the oxygen, the ethylene and the acetic acid and also water. It is provided that the process comprises adjusting in the process gas a water partial pressure according to a specified product ratio of the acetic acid to the ethylene to a value in a range between 0.7 and 5 bar (abs.). A corresponding plant (100) likewise forms part of the subject matter of the present invention.
