  • Patent number: 10085223
Abstract: The technology described herein enhances the operation of a wireless repeater system to set an Automatic Gain Control (AGC) timer. In one implementation, the wireless repeater wirelessly receives a receive data signal having a receive energy level. The wireless repeater periodically processes the receive energy level per the AGC timer to calculate an AGC amount. The wireless repeater also applies the AGC amount to the received data signal to generate a transmit data signal, and wirelessly transfers the transmit data signal. The wireless RF repeater determines an energy fluctuation in the receive data signal, and when the energy fluctuation in the receive data signal exceeds a fluctuation threshold, the wireless repeater decreases the AGC timer.

  • Patent number: 8005002
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system that performs a query-based convergecast scheduling in a convergecast network, which includes a base-station and a plurality of nodes. During operation, the system receives a convergecast tree for the convergecast network. Each node in the convergecast tree is associated with a hop-count to the base-station through a specific branch and each node can generate zero or more packets to transmit. Next, the system initializes a query from the base-station, wherein the query is successively propagated to the nodes through the branches. In response to the query, the system computes distributed-timing-information indicating a packet transmission schedule for the nodes. The system next aggregates the distributed-timing-information associated with the nodes toward the base-station through the branches. The system then forwards the aggregated distributed-timing-information to the plurality of nodes.

  • Patent number: 7957334
Abstract: This invention provides a communication system, a repeater terminal in the communication system and a communication method for improving the characteristics in a multi-hop communication by a diversity gain and reduces the power consumption by wasteful retransmission in packet transmission at a wireless terminal. When a transmitter terminal S sends a packet first time, repeater terminals R1-R13 perform a data transmission by retransmission at all the terminals which received the packet. When a transmitter terminal S sends a packet second time, a repeater terminal determines its own contribution based on the hop numbers of the repeating in the packet transmission and the return ACK (or NACK) repeating. The repeater terminal with a high contribution autonomously determines to be in “repeater mode” and the repeater terminal with a low contribution autonomously determines to be in “sleep mode”.

  • Patent number: 7957277
Abstract: A wireless communication system including a mesh network having a plurality of mesh points (MPs), a plurality of wireless transmit/receive units (WTRUs), extra-mesh local area network (LAN) resources, and an external network is disclosed. When one of the MPs receives a packet, a determination is made as to whether the received packet is destined to another MP belonging to the same mesh network, (or to a WTRU served by another MP), and, if so, a determination is made as to whether there are at least two mesh portals in the mesh network that provide access to the external network via the extra-mesh LAN resources. The packet is routed according to an intra-mesh routing algorithm if there are less than two mesh portals in the mesh network. Otherwise, a determination is made as to whether an extra-mesh routing algorithm or an intra-mesh routing algorithm should be used.
