    Abstract: A method and system for determining inroute frame timing for a Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) includes receiving an appointment to transmit, on an inroute, at a start of a slot X of a frame number M; establishing, at a VSAT, an arrival time of a super frame numbering packet (SFNP) including a satellite ephemeris vector and a frame number N; calculating, at the VSAT, a timing offset (TRO) to be applied to the arrival time to compensate for a time varying gateway-satellite-terminal propagation delay (THS+TSR); setting a transmit instant as an end of the TRO after the arrival time; adding to the transmit instant a duration of X slots and a duration of (M?N) frames; and transmitting a burst, on the inroute from the VSAT, at the transmit instant. In the method, the calculating is based on computing THS+TSR from the satellite ephemeris vector, a gateway transmits the SFNP and receives the burst in the slot X within the frame number M of the inroute, and N is greater than or equal to M.

A timing offset is selected based on a system timing reference, and used to establishing a common timing reference. A synchronization signal is transmitted from a gateway to a satellite based on time slots aligned with the common timing reference, and subsequently forwarded from the satellite to all terminals managed by the gateway. Communication sessions are initiated by terminals using the common timing reference, and downlink transmissions from the satellite to the terminals are aligned with the synchronization signal.

The control signaling may include resource assignment within the partition, modulation and coding scheme indication, reference signal configuration and retransmission information. In some embodiments, an anchor partition of a carrier is used to communicate initial access information for self-contained partitions of the carrier. The initial access information may include center-frequencies, bandwidths, and/or air interface configurations of the self-contained partitions. The anchor partition may also carry load indications associated with the self-contained partitions.

    Abstract: Systems and methods of reducing control plane latency in a 5G IAB network are described. SRs transmitted between nodes indicate that a control plane PDU is to be transmitted. The SRs use periodic resources or OCCs reserved for control plane signaling and are initiated by an RRC message or RACH from the UE. The SRs are initiated if the LCID field in the MAC subheader of the RRC message indicates the CCCH or the DCCH logical channel. If the PDU is available after the original resource, a resource is used that is provided via another grant, which is periodically provided or automatically initiated due to failure to transmit on the original grant. The SR or RRC message can also specify a delayed timeslot for the grant. For contention-based procedures the RACH preamble is randomly selected or selected from among a set of RACH preambles assigned for RRC procedures.

For SSB multiplexing, a user equipment (UE) receives an SSB configuration for a discovery signal detection window having a plurality of communication slots, wherein, based on the SSB configuration, UE identifies random access resource and time and frequency locations to monitor remaining minimum system information (RMSI) configured for each SSB. The UE further receives an SSB transmission indicator that reflects a listen before talk (LBT) result, which it may use with the SSB configuration to map one or more SSB for rate matching in selected slots. The UE can then rate match any data transmissions around the identified SSBs in those identified slots regardless of LBT result. The UE may further leverage the SSB configuration and indication of LBT result to monitor SSB transmissions for control resource set (CORESET) transmissions.

A UE may perform PRACH transmission either with a transmission opportunity (TXOP) or outside of a TXOP. The UE monitors for a control signal from a base station, such as a preamble or common control signal, identifying a TXOP. The UE may obtain an autonomous random access configuration for communications outside of the current TXOP that identifies a random access slot includes a plurality of random access occasions. If the UE fails to detect the control signal, it transmits an autonomous random access signal in a random access occasion corresponding to a beam direction of its location in relation to the base station. Otherwise, upon detection of the control signal and receipt of a trigger signal, the UE may transmit a random access request within the TXOP.
