  • Patent number: 9462609
Abstract: The method performed in the terminal includes generating a random value for wireless channel access, receiving a competitive index indicating a channel competition state from an access point, and determining whether to attempt a wireless channel access based on a comparison result between the random value and the competitive index. Accordingly, in an environment in which a large number of wireless local area network (WLAN) terminals simultaneously attempt the wireless channel access, each terminal voluntarily restricts a wireless connection request in accordance with wireless channel environment information transmitted by an access point, that is, competitive indexes, and therefore wireless channel access competition may be alleviated, thereby improving a wireless connection speed of the terminal and reducing power consumption of the terminal.

  • Patent number: 9451473
Abstract: Systems and methods for analyzing and forecasting network traffic are disclosed. In some implementations, multiple points are received. Each point represents a time value and a network traffic value. For each point in the multiple points, the network traffic value is decomposable into a trend component, a seasonality component, a burst component, and a random error component. A trend equation is generated for calculating the trend component based on the time value. A seasonality equation is generated for calculating the seasonality component based on the time value. A burst equation is generated for calculating the burst component based on the time value. A random error equation is generated for calculating the random error component. A network traffic equation is generated for calculating the network traffic value based on the time value by combining the trend equation, the seasonality equation, the burst equation, and the random error equation.

  • Patent number: 9444751
Abstract: Routing technologies are disclosed. A described technology includes routing packets through a network based on backpressure scheduling; when a number of packets in a transmitter queue satisfies a first threshold, retaining copies of at least a portion of the packets; and once the number of packets in the transmitter queue satisfies a second threshold, transmitting the retained copies of the packets to perform the routing. Retaining the copies can include copying a packet from the transmitter queue into a duplicate buffer when the number of packets in the transmitter queue is below the first threshold.

  • Patent number: 9445365
Abstract: A connection with a network that includes a base station (BS) may be established by a user device (UE) via a wireless connection, for conducting communications using semi persistent scheduling (SPS) in a connected discontinuous reception (C-DRX) mode. The SPS transmit periodicity may be adjusted with respect to the SPS activation command and the SPS interval UL (for uplink). Data may then be transmitted during the C-DRX On-Duration periods according to the determined SPS transmit periodicity. In some embodiments, the SPS transmit periodicity is adjusted such that following a first C-DRX On-Duration period when an SPS activation command is received, SPS data transmission occurs a specified number of subframes earlier during each subsequent C-DRX On-Duration period than in the first C-DRX On-Duration period. The SPS data transmission in each subsequent C-DRX On-Duration period may take place as soon as the UE device wakes up during the On-Duration period.

  • Patent number: 9419908
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for managing congestion in a data network. In a data network, various data flows are transmitted between source and destination nodes. One or more computing devices of the network may be configured to detecting congestion in a first path and provide an indication of the congestion, directly or indirectly, to a destination device. A switch associated with the path is designated for performing rebalancing of the flow based at least in part on a control message generated in response to an instruction received, either directly or indirectly, from a source device. Reassignment of the congested flow to a new path can help alleviate congestion and improve network performance.

  • Patent number: 9419901
Abstract: An example method for intermittent encapsulation of preemptable network traffic at a network node can include receiving a frame at the network node and determining if the frame is a preemptable frame. A preemptable frame is a frame that can be preempted, suspended, interrupted, etc. after transmission begins in order to transmit a preemptive frame. If the frame is a preemptable frame, the method can include determining if the preemptable frame satisfies a selective encapsulation rule. If the preemptable frame does not satisfy the selective encapsulation rule, the method can include transmitting the preemptable frame from the network node without encapsulation. Alternatively, if the preemptable frame satisfies the selective encapsulation rule, the method can include encapsulating and transmitting the preemptable frame from the network node. The preemptable frame can be encapsulated with a preemption header and/or a preemption trailer.

  • Patent number: 9419909
Abstract: A device may receive a packet, via a first port, that identifies a source network address. The device may determine a second port, identified in a data structure, that is associated with the source network address. The second port may be different from the first port. The device may determine an age indicator, stored in the data structure, associated with the source network address and the second port. The device may compare the age indicator to a threshold, and may selectively perform a first action or a second action based on comparing the age indicator to the threshold. The first action may include maintaining, in the data structure, a first indication of a first relationship between the source network address and the second port. The second action may include storing, in the data structure, a second indication of a second relationship between the source network address and the first port.

  • Patent number: 9419904
Abstract: A system that provides services to clients may receive and service requests, various ones of which may require different amounts of work. An admission control mechanism may manage requests based on tokens, each of which represents a fixed amount of work. The tokens may be added to a token bucket at rate that is dependent on a target work throughput rate while the number of tokens in the bucket does not exceed its maximum capacity. If at least a pre-determined minimum number of tokens is present in the bucket when a service request is received, it may be serviced. Servicing a request may include deducting an initial number of tokens from the bucket, determining that the amount of work performed in servicing the request is different than that represented by the initially deducted tokens, and deducting additional tokens from or replacing tokens in the bucket to reflect the difference.

  • Patent number: 9413691
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for facilitating synchronization of MAC addresses in a fabric switch. During operation, the system divides a number of media access control (MAC) addresses associated with devices coupled to an interface of the switch. The system then computes a checksum for a respective chunk of MAC addresses. In addition, the system broadcasts MAC address information of the chunk to facilitate MAC address synchronization in a fabric switch of which the switch is a member, and to manage the chunks and their corresponding checksum, thereby correcting an unsynchronized or race condition in the fabric switch.

  • Patent number: 9397919
Abstract: Systems and methods for offloading traffic in a wireless communication system are provided. It can be determined at a network node that a performance parameter of an access node meets a performance threshold. A profile of a wireless device in communication with the access node can be determined where the profile comprises an acceptable offloading condition. A plurality of offloading mechanisms can be identified based on the performance parameter and the acceptable offloading condition. An estimated change in the performance parameter can be determined for each combination of one of the plurality of offloading mechanisms and the acceptable offloading condition. An offloading mechanism can be selected based on the estimated change in the performance parameter and the acceptable offloading condition. The wireless device can be instructed to establish communication with the wireless communication system using the selected offloading mechanism.
