  • Patent number: 8542615
Abstract: Techniques for sending acknowledgement (ACK) and/or other control information with a configurable timeline are described. A receiver may have limited processing resources and may need different amounts of time to process different amounts of data. The receiver may send ACK information earlier (or later) if less (or more) receive processing time is required. In one design, the receiver may receive a transmission of data in accordance with a grant, decode the received transmission to recover the data, and determine ACK information based on decoding result. The receiver may determine a frame to send the ACK information based on the grant. The determined frame may be one of multiple frames available for sending the ACK information. For example, different grant sizes may be associated with different frames. The receiver may send the ACK information for the transmission of data in the determined frame.

  • Patent number: 8520614
Abstract: An assigning unit defines multiple subchannels that are frequency-division multiplexed and assigns, to at least one terminal apparatus, two or more subchannels for each of the downlink and uplink symmetrically. The assigning unit includes discontinuous subchannels in the subchannels assigned for each of the downlink and uplink. A modulator and a transmitter transmit a multicarrier signal to a terminal apparatus. A receiver and a demodulator receive a single carrier signal from a terminal apparatus. The receiver and demodulator use one or more continuous subchannels among two or more subchannels in the uplink by switching those two or more subchannels.

  • Patent number: 8493843
Abstract: A system and method for using an alternative wire pair for communication on initial wire pair failure. Upon detection of a failure in a wire pair, an alternative set of one or more wire pairs can be used to support the Ethernet communication. In one embodiment, the alternative wire pairs are kept in a hot standby mode to enable almost instantaneous switching. In another embodiment, an enhanced autonegotiation process is used to automatically identify the alternative set of wire pairs that can support the Ethernet communication.

  • Patent number: 8483241
Abstract: The invention includes a method and apparatus for determining the performance of a virtual concatenation group (VCG) signal transporting a client signal over a transport network. A method includes collecting a plurality of performance monitoring indicators associated with a plurality of VCG member signals of the VCG signal, synchronizing the performance monitoring indicators with respect to each other, combining the synchronized performance monitoring indicators to form VCG-level performance monitoring indicators, calculating VCG-level performance monitoring primitive measurements based on the VCG-level performance monitoring indicators, and processing the VCG-level performance monitoring primitive measurements to determine VCG performance.

  • Patent number: 8355340
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention include a method and base station for obtaining Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) information. One embodiment of the method includes: receiving, by a base station, quantized channel information, quantization error, Inter-Cell Interference (ICI) power and noise power fed back by each User Equipment (UE) after channel estimation; and estimating, by the base station, a CQI corresponding to each UE to obtain an estimated CQI value corresponding to each UE according to the quantized channel information, the quantization error, the ICI power and the noise power which are fed back by the UE as well as an instantaneous precoding vector or matrix of each UE. Through the embodiments, the base station can obtain more precise CQI information of each UE so as to select a precise modulation and coding scheme and to increase system throughput.
