  • Patent number: 7149204
Abstract: Priority order storage section 113 stores the order of priority for an uplink and the reverse order of priority for a downlink. Channel allocation section 114 performs channel allocation for a downlink in the order of priority of the downlink stored in priority order storage section 113, based on the CIR of the downlink. In addition, channel allocation section 114 performs channel allocation for an uplink in the order of priority of the uplink stored in priority order storage section 113, based on the CIR of the uplink. It is thereby possible to perform reuse partitioning in asymmetrical data communications.

  • Patent number: 7142535
Abstract: A packet-based, hierarchical communication system, arranged in a spanning tree configuration, is described in which wired and wireless communication networks exhibiting substantially different characteristics are employed in an overall scheme to link portable or mobile computing devices. The network accommodates real time voice transmission both through dedicated, scheduled bandwidth and through a packet-based routing within the confines and constraints of a data network. Conversion and call processing circuitry is also disclosed which enables access devices and personal computers to adapt voice information between analog voice stream and digital voice packet formats as proves necessary. Routing pathways include wireless spanning tree networks, wide area networks, telephone switching networks, internet, etc., in a manner virtually transparent to the user.

  • Patent number: 7139278
Abstract: In a packet communications network system, a border gateway protocol is employed to route an information packet from a source in a first autonomous system via a first label switched path to a destination in a second autonomous system via first and second border routers at an interface between the first and second autonomous systems. A label stack attached to the packet identifies both a forwarding interface for the packet and a forwarding behaviour at that interface. This provides a mapping from the first label switched path on to a second label switched path to the destination in the second autonomous system. Preferably, the destination router in the second autonomous system returns to the source router in the first autonomous system a two-label stack identifying first and second paths across the first and second autonomous systems respectively.

  • Patent number: 7139260
Abstract: A method for transmitting data from a radio network subsystem to user equipment in a mobile telephone system, a radio network subsystem and user equipment. In the method, the radio network subsystem transmits a dedicated control channel to the user equipment and a dedicated traffic channel of variable data transmission rate to the user equipment. During transmission, the radio network subsystem spreads each channel with a spreading code, and the spreading code used to spread the traffic channel is changed according to the required data transmission rate. According to the invention, each control channel frame indicates the spreading code with which the corresponding traffic channel is spread when transmitted.

  • Patent number: 7130305
Abstract: Processing of data packets within a network element cluster having a plurality of network element nodes is described. The network element cluster has a cluster network address common to said plurality of nodes. Distribution decisions are determined for first data packets, a first data packet being a data packet initiating opening of a packet data connection to said cluster network address, according to predetermined criteria. For each node of the network element cluster those first data packets, which are to be processed in said particular node, are selected according to the distribution decisions. Node-specific lists about opened packet data connections for which a node is responsible are maintained, and using these node-specific lists second data packets, which are data packets relating to any opened packet data connection specified in a node-specific list, are processed.

  • Patent number: 7116680
Abstract: A process and architecture to simplify the implementation of a high-speed scheduler. A traditional packet based scheduler works the length of the packet. Instead, the present invention uses a transmit queue that determines how many times a portion of a packet needs to be transmitted independent of the process to modify or transform the packet. The packet could be an ATM cell, it could be a fabric cell, or it could be a portion of a frame-based transmission of the packet. As a result, the transmit queue need only determine how many times (times to transmit (TTT)) to schedule transmission of part of the packet. The determined TTT from the transit queue takes into account the packet-based modifications that will be performed on the packet. The TTT is used to determine how many cells the packet needs to be divided into. In another illustrative embodiment, the number of cells or the TTT is determined prior to adding or removing data from the packet.

  • Patent number: 7113485
Abstract: A method for measuring latency in a bi-directional ring network includes transmitting a latency measurement packet from an originating node to a peer node and noting a time of receipt of the packet at the peer node. The packet is then transmitted back to the originating node in the opposite direction, while recording in the packet an indication of a peer node difference between a time of transmission of the packet from the peer node to the originating node and the time of receipt of the packet at the peer node. A time of return of the packet to the originating node is noted, so as to determine an originating node difference between a time of transmission of the packet from the originating node to the peer node and the time of return of the packet to the originating node. The latency is calculated by taking a difference between the originating node difference and the peer node difference.

  • Patent number: 7110413
Abstract: An interconnect switch provides full PCI compatibility while increasing performance via concurrency. The switch contains a primary bridge on a primary port. Secondary ports of the switch can be connected to secondary bridges and end devices. The switch can shadow registers associated with the secondary bridges. A transaction with a target address behind a secondary bridge is directly routed to the secondary port associated with the secondary bridge, using the shadowed registers. A transaction with a target address not behind a secondary bridge is routed to each of the other secondary ports. The transaction can be broadcast to all of the non-bridge secondary ports or can be routed successively to each of the non-bridge secondary ports until accepted. A tuning process can use positive acknowledgment of a transaction by an end device connected to a secondary port to directly route similar transactions to the same secondary port.

  • Patent number: 7110379
Abstract: A base station controller selects codes corresponding to rate information included in a new starting call message from a mobile station, and further selects codes assignable to the mobile station out of the selected codes as candidate codes. Then, the base station controller detects codes which meet both the characteristics of being at upper level of the candidate codes in the tree structure and being assignable to other mobile station, and further detects levels of the detected codes. Detected levels for all the candidate codes are compared to find a candidate code whose level is the lowest and to assign the candidate code to the mobile station sending the new starting call message.
