Patent number: 5550328Abstract: An electronic scale is disclosed having a device for recalibrating the scale from time to time after the scale is moved from the factory to a site of installation in order to adjust the scale for physical and/or environmental operating conditions which are different from those which prevailed at the factory when the scale was originally calibrated after the completion of manufacture and which have an adverse effect on the accuracy of the scale if the scale is not recalibrated under these conditions. The scale is provded with a device which adds a predetermined fixed weight to the load cell of the scale at any desired time or interval of time, and an electronic count indicative of this weight at the site of installation is compared with an electronic count of the same weight taken at the factory and stored in a memory, and the digital readout of the scale is then adjusted by an amount which is the same as the ratio of the original count of the weight and the count thereof taken at the site of installation.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1993Date of Patent: August 27, 1996Assignee: Pitney Bowes Inc.Inventors: Gerald C. Patent number: 5548263Abstract: An electromagnetically actuator is disclosed having an electromagnet, a core element, the core element having a normally biased initial spaced apart first position distal from the electromagnet when the electromagnet is off and a second stop position proximal from the electromagnet when the electromagnet is on, a first resilient member adapted to bias said core element in the normally biased first position, and a second resilient member adapted to bias the electromagnet away from the core. The first resilient member is more resilient than the second resilient member. Therefore, the core approaches the electromagnet when the electromagnet is on until the core reaches the fixed stop position, and the electromagnet subsequently approaches the core to the fixed stop position. The actuator may further include an adjustment member that engages the electromagnet so as to control the pressure of the electromagnet against the second resilient member, whereby the axial position of the electromagnet is controlled.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1993Date of Patent: August 20, 1996Assignee: Aura Systems, Inc.Inventors: Dennis C. Patent number: 5124735Abstract: A camera is capable of recording plural kinds of data at corresponding positions of each film frame. In a first operating mode a first kind of data is recorded at a first position in the film frame disposed at an exposure location, and film feeding is started. Film feeding is suspended temporarily, and a second kind of data is recorded at a second position of the frame. Then film feeding continues to bring a subsequent frame to the exposure location. If no second kind of data is to be recorded or if no data of any kind is to be recorded, the film feeding is not temporarily suspended. Data recording may occur in the course of film winding or film rewinding. Some or all of the data may be stored before recording, and the order of the recording of kinds of data may be changed, e.g., at the last frame of the film. In some embodiments the film is rewound by a fraction of a frame before recording of a second kind of data.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1990Date of Patent: June 23, 1992Assignee: Nikon CorporationInventors: Daiki Tsukahara, Hideya Inoue

Patent number: 5117939Abstract: A sound attenuator has at least one sound absorber composed of a hollow body of a hard porous material and an outer or inner layer of air, and exhibits good sound-absorbing property even in a low frequency range, even if the hollow body has a small wall thickness. The hollow body may be provided with projections or a semicircular or otherwise shaped part or parts, or both, serving to maintain the outer or inner layer of air in proper shape. The device is inexpensive and yet is very reliable in quality. When the device is long, the projections in linear form are particularly useful for restraining any flanking transmission of noise and thereby enabling the device to achieve a higher rate of attenuation per unit length. The sound-absorbing property of the device can be controlled over a wide range of frequencies if the hollow body has a porosity varying continuously in a specific direction.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1990Date of Patent: June 2, 1992Assignees: Mitsubishi Electric Home Appliance Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Yoshihiro Noguchi, Toshihisa Imai, Yutaka Takahashi, Ken Morinushi, Hideharu Tanaka
