Patent number: 3961456Abstract: A plastic molding member is designed to snap or slide onto key hole tongues of either cabinet panel edges or door frames member. The molding permits section blanks of a cabinet panel to be removed and the perimeter of the blank to be covered with the molding which thereby permits it to be utilized as a cabinet door or a decorative panel without any loss of material. In addition, hollow doors can be easily fabricated with the molding member of the present invention. In the preferred cabinet embodiment, the molding consists of a rear flat surface designed to interface with the back of the panel and a front and top surface designed to provide a decorative finish and to overlap the interface of the panel key hole tongue and surface. In an alternative embodiment the upper portion of the molding is hollow and adapted to receive a spring clip to secure two sections of the molding to a panel or door frame.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1974Date of Patent: June 8, 1976Inventors: Glen D. Patent number: 3953991Abstract: A radio-operated lock construction is adapted to be mounted on a door and is positioned to engage a mating piece mounted on the adjacent door jamb to lock the door in the closed position. The lock comprises a lock housing having means for mounting the housing on the door. A drop bolt is movably mounted on the housing for movement between an extended position wherein the bolt engages with the mating piece and a retracted position wherein the bolt and mating piece are disengaged. The drop bolt comprises an operating member which is movable from a first position corresponding to the extended position of the bolt to a second position corresponding to the retracted position of the bolt. An opening slide is connected with the operating member and is movable upon actuation from a first to a second position to move the operate member from the first to the second position thereby retracting the drop bolt.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 1974Date of Patent: May 4, 1976Assignees: Albert M. Patent number: 3952559Abstract: An exposed shackle padlock including a casing and a U-shaped shackle movable between an outer open position and an inner locked position. A fence plate is supported for rocking movement within the casing about a pivot lug between locking and unlocking relations with a notch in a shorter leg of the shackle. One or more peripherally gated rotatable tumbler wheel members adjacent a fence formation on the fence plate normally prevent its movement to the unlocking position and may form either a key operated locking mechanism or a dial operated combination locking mechanism. The tumbler members in the combination lock form are scrambled during opening movement of the shackle and the fence plate is displaceable relative to the pivot lug to permit return of the shackle to locked position.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1974Date of Patent: April 27, 1976Assignee: Long Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventor: Wallace E. Patent number: 3951442Abstract: A pivoting latch and lock for a door hinged in a frame having a strike aperture has a detent latch that can be moved out of the strike opening merely by pulling the door open unless the detent latch is specially blocked against such movement. In one embodiment a frame is installed on the door and presents an edge opening. Normally spring-projected partly through the edge opening is a detent latch having a central body carrying one or more pivot lugs guiding rotation of the detent latch about one or more axes located within the frame and alongside the detent latch. The detent latch has a surface associated with each axis so shaped as to clear the frame opening when the latch is rotated about that axis. A lever is pivoted on the frame to move into and out of a position blocking rotation of the detent latch. The lever may be operated by a solenoid or electromagnet. If desired, the same electrical device can move the two levers of duplicate pivoting latches.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 1974Date of Patent: April 20, 1976Assignee: Schlage Lock CompanyInventor: Ernest L. Patent number: 3941440Abstract: Self-leveling dispenser of the type having an elongated lever which serves to balance the spring and platform, with a member being adjustable along the lever for altering the ratio of effective moment arms to change the effective spring rating of the dispenser. An adjustment feature comprises felxible strands connected to opposite sides of the adjustable member. By means of a pulley surface, both strands leave the lever at the pivot point and proceed to a take-up pay-out device, shown as a dentent-controlled reel. For avoiding working against the spring during adjustment the lever concavely curves about the line of action of a tension spring acting upon the lever. In combination of these features the strands are guided by longitudinally convex surfaces of the curved member. The platform and spring loads are shown to act in one diagonal direction of a rectangular frame with the frame braced by a tension member extending in the opposite diagonal direction.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1974Date of Patent: March 2, 1976Assignee: Peters and Company, Inc.Inventors: Marvin Menzin, Hugh A.
