    Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing cut tobacco material, whereby a tobacco initial material is heated and placed under pressure and once heated and placed under pressure, the material is fed through a shearing gap and expanded and defibrated. It further relates to a device for producing cut tobacco material with a pressure chamber, which has a tobacco material inlet at the low-pressure end and a tobacco material outlet at the pressure end and a conveyor system for conveying the tobacco material from the inlet to the outlet, and the tobacco material outlet has a gap through which the material passes and expands, and the gap has walls which can be moved towards one another. It further relates to a smoking article containing such a cut, defibrated tobacco material product and the use of a plug screw feeder-extruder with a shearing gap outlet for defibrating tobacco material.

There is further provided a honeycomb structure having a porosity of 50 to 70%, a mean pore diameter of 15 to 30 ?m, a difference in a mean pore diameter of 5 ?m or less between in the central portion and in the outer peripheral portion, a thermal expansion coefficient of 1.0×10?6/° C.

    Abstract: Cigarette gas filter is used to filter the gaseous components of main stream smoke. This causes reduction of the delivery of the gaseous constituents of main stream smoke (MSS). The gas filter consists of a narrow annular gap, where the outer side is circumvented by a high permeability wrapper paper. As the cigarette smoke is passed through this annulus gap, the fraction of gases present in the smoke is reduced by diffusion mechanism and due to inflow of air into the annulus by convection mechanism. Since the diffusion coefficient of aerosol particles are several orders of magnitude smaller than the gas molecules, the aerosol particles are kept mainly intact while passing through the annulus. Therefore this filter is applied for reducing the gas/tar ratio. This filter can also be used to filter the gases of non-cigarette smokes.

Preferably, the fluoropolymer is a thermoplastic fluoropolymer, such as a polymer of tetrafluoroethylene, hexafluoropropylene, and vinylidene fluoride. The metal filler comprises a high density, reactive metal. Preferably, the metal filler is hafnium or tantalum. The reactive material is safely processed at temperatures significantly below the thermal autoignition point of the reactive material.
