  • Patent number: 7139680
Abstract: A method and system for standby lighting uses a power supply module and a standby lamp in conjunction with an HID lamp. The power supply module has a processor with smart trigger circuitry, soft start capability, overlap timer, and an advanced current sense algorithm. The power supply module continuously monitors the electronic ballast current to the HID lamp. If the current drops for a period of time, the power supply module supplies DC current to turn on the standby lamp gradually over a couple of seconds. The standby lamp is kept on while the processor checks for a rise in the electronic ballast current to a threshold current level for more than two seconds. Then, an overlap timer starts to count down for the time it takes for HID lamp to reach full intensity, approximately fifteen minutes. The standby lamp is turned off at the end of the count down.

  • Patent number: 7136765
Abstract: A blind locating system for finding and tracing buried objects such as utility lines, conductive pipes and sondes. A sensor array is coupled to a signal processor, which determines a field vector for one or more buried objects by producing a data signal representing a covariance matrix corresponding to the covariances of the time-varying sensor array signals over a selected frequency band and accumulation interval. The covariance matrix is characterized by eigenvalues and associated eigenvectors and a user interface (UI) indicates the field vector associated with the eigenvector having the largest eigenvalue. Using several different frequency bands, a plurality of underground objects may be simultaneously detected and indicated in the UI without foreknowledge of their existence or characteristics.

  • Patent number: 7136771
Abstract: A testing circuit includes m block test units and a first logical processing unit. The block test unit compares a first data outputted from a test object with a reference data, and outputs a result as a test circuit output signal based on a output control signal. The first logical processing unit judges whether the all of the m test circuit output signals indicate that the first data is coincident with the reference data, and outputs a result as a total judgment result signal based on the m test circuit output signals. The block test unit includes a block judging unit and a block output selecting unit. The block judging unit compares the first data with the reference data to judge whether the first data is coincident with the reference data, and outputs a result as a block judgment result signal.

  • Patent number: 7130750
Abstract: A variable area flow meter has a magnet carried by a piston which is moved to a position representing fluid flow. An array of magnetoresistive bridge sensors adjacent the path of magnet movement senses the magnet position. The bridges are unbalanced by the magnet field. The analog unbalance signals are read and processed in digital form to develop a flow signal. The flow meter circuits are powered from a 4–20 MA current loop or a remote power supply. Each bridge sensor is powered only when the bridge unbalance signal is being read, to minimize the power requirement.

  • Patent number: 7120555
Abstract: A signal can be analysed to determine statistical characteristics indicative of, for example, the predictability or time reversibility of the signal. The signal is examined to locate events corresponding to the crossing of predetermined levels with predetermined slopes. Multiple versions of the signal are combined, the versions being shifted with respect to each other by amounts corresponding to the spacings of the detected events. The shape of the resulting representation provides statistical information regarding the signal.

  • Patent number: 7117102
Abstract: Descriptors of cohesive interactions in the solid state are calculated from a computational model of a solid state, i.e. from a small cluster of copies of the molecule of interest assembled using a molecular mechanics method. A model for predicting solubility is built using the cohesive interaction descriptors along with other descriptors useful for this purpose. Predicted solubility is computed for the compound of interest by computing the same descriptors and applying the solubility model. Explicit modeling of solid state allows to more accurately characterize cohesive interactions in solids, hence, more accurately predict solubility.

  • Patent number: 7117106
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method suited for controlling the operation of an electrolyzer cell module. Specifically, some embodiments of the present invention provide a system and method that incorporates a call to an alarm recovery sequence into a safety system suited for use with an electrolyzer cell module, which is able to suspend the normal operations and initiate an alarm recovery sequence upon detecting that a corresponding alarm threshold has been violated. The safety system and method is then able to restart the normal operations if it is determined that the alarm recovery sequence was successful, meaning that the process and operating parameters that violated the particular alarm threshold have been brought back to within a safe operating range.
