Abstract: An image reading apparatus includes a platen on which a document is to be placed, an image sensor configured to read an image of the document on the platen, an opening/closing member configured to cover and uncover the platen, a document pressing layer disposed on a surface of the opening/closing member and configured to press the document on the plate when the opening/closing member covers the platen, elastic layers located between the document pressing layer and the opening/closing member and spaced apart from each other on a surface of the document pressing layer, and connection layers connecting the elastic layers to the opening/closing member. An area of the elastic layer is larger than an area of the connection layer.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed include systems and methods for computer automated print services control comprising authenticating a user credential input via a user device. The system and method includes generating, by a printer driver comprised in the user device, a user interface comprising features supported by a plurality of printing devices. Further, it includes receiving via the user device over the network, a print instruction comprising the features supported by the plurality of printing devices connected to the computer system over the network. And based on the print instruction, generating a print job in an embodiment. Further, based on the user authentication at one of the plurality of printing devices, converting via a gateway, the received print instruction into a format compatible with that printing device and releasing the generated print job for printing at that printing device, according to an embodiment.

Abstract: One motor is shared for carriage movement and document sheet conveyance. An abutting member stops the carriage, that has moved from a second position located below a first end portion of a platen glass, at a first position located below a contact glass. The carriage supports the motor and first and second main body gears. The main body gears interlock with the motor. A cover input gear meshes with the first main body gear when the carriage is located between the first position and a relay region. A main rack gear meshes with the second main body gear when the carriage is located in a region extending from the relay region to a third position located below a second end portion of the platen glass. A load torque applied to the motor is larger when the carriage is fixed than when the cover input gear is fixed.
Abstract: A scanner includes a scanning module. The scanning module has a scan channel and a scanning glass. A lower surface of the scanner is defined as a bottom wall of the scan channel. The scanning glass is positioned above the scan channel. A bottom surface of the scanning glass is defined as a top wall of the scan channel. The lower surface of the scanner has an upstream turn connected between an upstream section and a middle section of the lower surface of the scanner, the middle section of the lower surface of the scanner is parallel with the bottom surface of the scanning glass.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a first reading unit configured to read a first image on a first surface of a document, a second reading unit configured to read a second image on a second surface of the document different from the first surface, a printing unit configured to print a third image on a sheet, and a setting unit configured to set resolution of the third image printed by the printing unit. The printing unit prints the third image on the sheet with the resolution set by the setting unit. The image scanning device scans a document image sheet by sheet from a document including plural sheets. Abstract: According to one embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a scanner and a control unit. The scanner reads an image formed on a sheet, generates image data at a reading resolution, then stores the image data in a storage unit at a recording resolution. The control unit combines a reading direction image with the stored image data to generate synthesized image data, then records the synthesized image data in the storage unit. The control unit determines a position and size for the reading direction image in a synthesized image corresponding to the synthesized image data based upon the reading resolution and recording resolution.
