Abstract: An image processing apparatus which is able to prevent a decrease in general versatility of an expansion application. The image processing apparatus has an operating system and the expansion application for expanding functions. When a USB device is connected to the image processing apparatus, a USB I/F communicates with the connected USB device. The connected USB device is controlled using the operating system or the expansion application. It is determined whether or not the connected USB device is a predetermined operating device that operates the image processing apparatus. When the connected USB device is the predetermined operating device, the connected USB device is controlled using the operating system.

Abstract: A system of devices receives and stores documents based on confidential information redacted from the documents. An electronic document is analyzed to identify character blocks having confidential information. The confidential information can be in different formats within the document. Redaction rules are applied to the character blocks to identify confidential categories for the confidential information within the blocks. The confidential information is redacted based on the rules such that the confidential information is removed from the document. A new electronic document is generated with the information redacted such that it is not viewable or printable. The two documents with different levels of confidential information is then stored on separate devices within the system. The documents may be made available within the system according to authentication codes for the documents.

Abstract: Method(s) and apparatus(es) relate to notification to pick-up a printed document (“document”). In a method, stored are: at least one operation image of the document, and operation metadata and a user identity associated with a scanning or printing. A scan of at least one page of the document is received by the printer to generate at least one scanned image and scan metadata. The scan metadata is compared with data entries in a printer log to obtain a match to the operation metadata. The at least one operation image stored in relation to the operation metadata matching the scan metadata is retrieved. The at least one scanned image is compared to the at least one operation image. Responsive to determining the at least one scanned image matches the at least one operation image, sent from the printer is a confidential notification for the user identity to pick up the document.

Abstract: In a communication apparatus, a processor receives first and second requests from an external device via an internet. The first request has first port information indicating a first port. The second request has second port information indicating a second port. In response to receiving the first and second requests, the processor transmits first and second responses to the external device via the internet. After transmitting the first response and the second response, the processor receives result information from the external device via the internet. The result information is based on a fact that the external apparatus receives the first request and the second request; and performing an addressing process on a basis of the result information. The addressing process is for addressing a security issue concerning the first port and the second port.

Abstract: The printer obtains template data from an application. Further, the printer drive obtains image data of a composition image from a scanner or a folder stored in a data storage area. The printer driver identifies, in a template image indicated by the template data, a composite area in which the composition image is to be composed based on the template data or information stored in the data storage area. Then, the printer driver generates image data of an image in which the composition image is composed in the identified composite area of the template image. With this configuration, the image in which the composition image is composed can be generated without requiring a user to obtain the composition images or without requiring the user to compose the composition image with the template image.

Abstract: Provided are an automated process and system for rendering an image on a conical surface, the process comprising: transforming a two-dimensional (2D) planar representation of an image to a 2D planar representation of the image configured for a conical shape; applying the 2D transformed representation onto a planar template; and manufacturing a conically-shaped object from the planar template on which the 2D transformed representation has been applied.

Abstract: A printer capable of performing communication with a server via a firewall over a printer network includes a roll paper printing mechanism configured to perform printing on roll paper, a cut-form paper printing mechanism configured to perform printing on cut-form paper, and a processor configured to transmit, to the server, at least pairs of address information for the printer and status information for the printer, receive instruction information having been transmitted by the server, and execute processing based on the instruction information, and the processor causes transmission timing points for the transmission of the pairs to the server to differ for each of kinds of the status information.

The system may include a computing device including instructions executable to send a first image to a printing device, wherein the printing device is prohibited to display a preview of the first image and wherein the computing device is not authorized to print the first image utilizing the printing device. The instructions may be executable to send a second image to the printing device, wherein the second image includes a graphical identifier of a sender. The system may include a printing device including instructions executable to display the second image, receive an authorization to print the non-displayable first image, and print the first image.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus manages restart setting information that defines settings related to restarting of remote connection with a computer, controls remote connection, and changes the restart setting information according to an instruction. When remote connection is terminated as a result of a function that terminates remote connection being executed, if the restart setting information includes a setting for automatically restarting remote connection, remote connection is automatically restarted and, if the restart setting information includes a setting for not automatically restarting remote connection, remote connection is not automatically restarted.

In one example, a computing environment can access a listing of network printers received from a printer discovery service executed in an enterprise device in an intranet behind a firewall. A user group associated with a client device enrolled with a management service can be identified as well as at least one of the network printers assigned to the user group. The client device can be remotely configured to access the at least one of the network printers assigned to the user group.
