  • Patent number: 6860016
Abstract: A single-handedly operated citrus fruit segmenter having first and second arms such that squeezing the arms into a closed position causes a curved movable scoop to extend into a citrus fruit proximate to a triangular blade and form a segment-shaped compartment. The actuation of the curved movable scoop occurs by a user squeezing the first arm toward the second arm. A pin on the first arm is operatively connected to an elongated slot of a cam mechanism such that the rotation of the first arm about its pivot location causes the cam mechanism to rotate about its own pivot location. Therefore, the cam mechanism, being also connected to the curved movable scoop, forces the curved movable scoop into the citrus fruit.

  • Patent number: 6854372
Abstract: A miter saw is adapted for performing lengthwise, or rip, operations on a work piece such as wood. A back support arm is positioned off-center such that the work piece can be inserted under the miter saw substantially parallel to the blade. An arcuate aperture in the back support arm ensures that bevel adjustment properly aligns the blade with the blade slot during bevel cuts. An adjustable rail enables the work piece to be positioned in either a normal position, for crosswise cuts, or an orthogonal position, for lengthwise cuts. A toggle switch overrides the on/off switch on the handle, useful when the work piece is fed from behind. Two separate sleeves cover the blade, assuring safety during operation for both lengthwise and crosswise cuts. A tensioning board feed roller holds the work piece in place during lengthwise cutting.

  • Patent number: 6851574
Abstract: A spoon includes a handle and a bowl disposed on one end of a handle. The bowl includes a curved frame and a pliable section or portion secured to the frame, the pliable section being movable between a first position for containing the food and a second position where the bowl is more shallow than when in the first position. An actuating link extends between the handle and the pliable section. The actuating link is movable by an actuator, and the movement of the actuator causes the actuating link to move the pliable section of the bowl. Food contained within the bowl can be displaced or effectively transferred from the bowl into the mouth of an infant or another person in response to the actuator and actuating link being moved.

  • Patent number: 6837136
Abstract: A hand operated combination two-and-three-hole puncher for making holes in paper and other sheet materials is shown and described. The two-hole punch assembly and the three-hole punch assembly are fixedly disposed on the common platform either in-line, or at a predetermined angle, to each other in such manner that both punch assemblies share a common punch subassembly and a common foot. The common punch subassembly could be activated using either the press lever frame of the two-hole punch assembly or the press lever frame of the three-hole punch assembly thus enabling the common punch subassembly to punch a hole in the process of the two-hole perforation or the three-hole perforation without the readjustment.

  • Patent number: 6832536
Abstract: A tube cutting machine comprises a tube secured in a chuck tightened against an outer tube wall and by a mandrel expanded within the tube against the tube inner wall opposite the chuck. A blade with a conical body side on the tube body side advances into the tube at the body side angle, eliminating longitudinal force against the tube body and accumulation of tube material on the blade body side. In alternative embodiments, either the tube or the blade can rotate. As the blade edge enters the tube wall, the blade end side, opposite the body side is also conical and pushes the tube cut portion longitudinally away from the tube body, causing the tube before the blade to neck under the longitudinal force imposed by the blade end side. The blade is reversed when the neck weakens and is unable support the tube cut portion but has not yet broken, referred to as the failure point. The blade is then withdrawn and the neck is snapped off. The failure point is detected by a rod urged transversely against the tube end.
