  • Patent number: 6763592
Abstract: A folding knife having a blade and handle further includes a sheath which receives the exposed edge and knife point of the blade in an accommodating slot. A leaf spring in registry with the accommodating slot has a locking face that locks the blade into place and an unlocking face that releases the blade when the handle is rotated about the locked blade, thus allowing the knife to be released from the sheath in an open position. By use of the sheath, the blade can be double edged and can be longer than the handle.

  • Patent number: 6763590
Abstract: A shaving aid delivery system for a razor assembly includes a cartridge assembly having a reservoir for storing a fluid shaving aid and skin care topicals, and channels for communicating the shaving aid to a shaving surface of the cartridge assembly. A spring driven piston assembly drives shaving aid from the reservoir to the shaving surface. A clutch assembly controls the movement of the piston assembly, the clutch assembly being movable between an engaged position wherein the movement of the piston assembly is prevented and a released position wherein the movement of the piston assembly is permitted. The clutch assembly is movable to the released position in response to a force applied to the shaving surface of the cartridge. A visual indicator alerts the user as to the amount of shaving aid remains in the reservoir and when replacement is due.

  • Patent number: 6758119
Abstract: A method of reciprocating a spindle of a reciprocating saw, including the steps of reciprocating the front end of the spindle along a first path during the cutting stroke and along the same first path during the return stroke, and adjusting the saw such that the front end reciprocates along a second path during the cutting stroke and along the same second path during the return stroke, the second path being oblique to the first path. The present invention also provides a method of reciprocating a spindle of a reciprocating saw, including the steps of moving the front end along a first cutting path during the cutting stroke, the first cutting path characterized by movement at least partially in a first cutting direction, returning the front end along a return stroke (e.g., along the first cutting path), and adjusting the saw such that the front end moves along a second cutting path during the cutting stroke, the second cutting path characterized by movement at least partially in a second cutting direction.

  • Patent number: 6748839
Abstract: Embodiments of an punch machine and a quick-change die assembly are shown and described. The die assembly may be quickly installed and removed from the punch machine, without bolting or unbolting of either machine housing or the die assembly itself. The die assembly is slid into the machine through a hole in the machine housing and into a position which mates part of the die assembly with the push-bar. A clamp, with a handle outside the machine, is then pivoted against the die assembly. The push-bar is adapted to be self-supporting without being bolted to the die assembly, keeping the push-bar in place without manual adjustment and alignment. The die assembly preferably includes a die, pin retainer, and punch pins, and preferably includes a flexible, pivotal, or hinged pin strap to secure the pins to the retainer.

  • Patent number: 6745478
Abstract: A multi-purpose work knife includes a universal elongate ergonomically-shaped handle (UEH) which defines an axis and includes a blade having an UEH blade axis. Within the handle portion, a channel member is received in a forwardly extending cavity and movably receives a cutting blade carrier for axial movement relative to the handle portion. A selectable non-universal portion (SNP) is secured at one end to said UEH at a plane of continuity of curvature thru which the UEH axis passes. The SNP holds non-standard blade at an angular offset relative to the UEH axis. A cutting edge of the SNP blades defines a virtual angle which intersects the UEH axis within a range of 20 to 30 degrees.
