  • Patent number: 7041171
Abstract: For use in a rotational casting machine used for coating a rotating body with elastomer, such as polyurethane, there is provided a nozzle used for dispensing the liquid polyurethane onto the rotating body to be coated. The outlet of the nozzle is a narrow, elongated slit or opening. However, the interior passageway of the nozzle continually changes shape from the inlet to the outlet thereof, in order to ensure a constant cross-sectional area of the interior passageway along the length thereof, and in order to arrive at the desired narrow, elongated outlet-opening, whereby laminar flow of the liquid polyurethane is achieved with the concomitant reduced dwell-time of the liquid polyurethane therein, in order to reduce build up and clogging of the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 7025830
Abstract: A coating apparatus and method are disclosed in which even if poor coating occurs in a lower-layer, no poor coating occurs in an upper-layer formed on the lower-layer. A pre-wet liquid coating device is disposed between a first coating device at the upstream side of a support web conveying direction, and a second coating device disposed at the downstream side. When an uncoated portion is formed by the first coating device, a pre-wet liquid is coated by a pre-wet liquid coating device, and the coating liquid can be reliably coated by the second coating device. When the pre-wet liquid coating device is removed from the support web, first, the pre-wet liquid coating device is brought into liquid-running out state, and thereafter, removed from the support web. Accordingly, the pool of pre-wet liquid is eliminated and occurrence of a thickly coated portion on the support web can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 7022186
Abstract: A system, method and apparatus for collecting overspray from single color coating applications. Within a spraying area are one or more curtains. The curtains are continuously coated on one side with the material to be sprayed through material dispensers aimed at the upper region of the panel curtains. The material dispensers coat the panel curtains so that material runs down the panel curtains and into a recycling pan. Spraying equipment is used to coat the object. The spraying occurs in the direction of the panel curtains. Thus, any overspray material from the spraying process is deposited on the panel curtains. The flowing material on the curtain collects the overspray material to and transfers it to the collection pan for re-use in the collection process. In the collection pan, one or more agitators may be used to ensure proper consistency is maintained for the material.
