  • Patent number: 9615242
Abstract: A method of determining a network leakage rate within a wireless communication network that uses counters within an application server. The number of users at a second point in time, determined by the counters, is subtracted from a number of users at a first point in time, determined by the counters, to provide a first result. The number of user attempts to access the network, determined by the counters, is multiplied by a success rate and then the number of users leaving the network (de-registering from the network or handing off to a different network) is subtracted to provide a second result. The second result is subtracted from the first result and then divided by the number of users at the first point in time. The absolute value is the network leakage rate.

  • Patent number: 9609568
Abstract: In some implementations, a base station may determine a bandwidth associated with a backhaul connecting the base station to a network. The base station may select a band in an unlicensed spectrum based at least partly on a scan of at least a portion of the unlicensed spectrum. The base station may select an operating channel in the band based at least partly on a characteristic of the operating channel and the bandwidth associated with the backhaul. After selecting the operating channel, the base station may, based on one or more conditions, re-scan the band and select a new operating channel based at least partly on a characteristic of the new operating channel.

  • Patent number: 9596608
Abstract: The techniques described herein enable a commercial cellular service provider to use a repurposed portion of spectrum to provide cellular service to a customer base while ensuring that the use of the repurposed portion of spectrum does not interfere with a previous use of the repurposed portion of spectrum by an incumbent entity. The techniques determine, and manage the use of, forbidden cells and clean cells. A “forbidden” cell is a cell in which a previous use of spectrum by an incumbent entity is protected. A “clean” cell is a cell that can be freely used by the commercial cellular service provider without a possibility of interference with a protected use of the spectrum by the incumbent entity.

  • Patent number: 9577976
Abstract: Registering a client computing device for online communication sessions. A registration server receives a message that has a push token that is unique to the client computing device and a phone number of the client computing device from an SMS (Short Message Service) transit device, which received an SMS message having the push token from the client computing device and determined the phone number of the client computing device from that SMS message. The registration server associates the push token and the phone number and stores it in a registration data store, which is used for inviting users for online communication sessions.

  • Patent number: 9578552
Abstract: A method and system is provided that supports minimizing handover times of netsurfing smartphones controlled by home Internet Access Devices (IADs) to shared IADs and optimizing earnings from these shared devices. The shared services are provisionable right at the handovers. Any shared IAD can implement an automatic auction of its service capacity controlled by a clearing system. The shared IADx automatically generates lucrative clicks on services of location based Internet-apps issued by Ayz passing through sharedIADx's reach. Several such provisioning systems may run concurrently, thus enabling high flexibility as to instant and local/regional system restructuring, e.g. on behalf of pricing strategy adaptations and/or version control. The application of the invention needs no change of the networks between which the above described pre-HO support of their HOs/MHOs shall be performed, i.e. it may work on top of all networks between which HOs or MHOs may be executed.
